The hotel has an Art gallery at the reception area. They have displayed beautiful artworks. It is located about 15 mins walking distance from Kyoto station. Hotel is undergoing repairs and upgradation work but it didn't disturb us.

Location was great 5 mins from metro, 15mins from main station. Breakfast was brilliant and bonus of a sandwich I took with me to eat while exploring the temples. Bar was lovely, nice IPA and curry.

Breakfast: Amazing, extraordinary buffet repast, with plentiful ingredients from the east and west.
Location: A little removed from the action, but that is actually a plus for the resulting peace and quiet which is worth it.
Room: a bit cramped but this is Japan so what do you expect? Besides, the size well represented the great price: Small! Travelers are a picky bunch, especially from the USA, 35,000 feet in the air and complaining that they're not comfortable like the way they feel in their living rooms at home.
How about two words: Nothing, really.

The staff were great, I loved the artistic concept and thoughtful touches, like the bath salt bar and very Kyoto-like welcome drinks. The breakfast was also excellent, the staff called a cab for me with no issues, and I really liked how quiet the location is.
I really am not in the habit of complaining, but sadly I did not get even one hour of sleep, due to the rather old air conditioning units, which worked great during the day but at night would simply not get cool enough no matter what I did (I read Japanese extremely well, and so can confirm that I was pressing the right buttons) and was also quite loud. The room was so warm and humid, which combined with the hard pillows (I call them bean pillows, as they have pellets in the bottom) resulted in not sleeping at all. I had to crack open my door to try and get some cool air from the hallway. Since I had to be up at 6:30am for work, this was really frustrating.
They are in the middle of a big renovation project, which likely means that new aircon units will be installed, but until that is done I would not return here in summer. Fall, spring and winter should be fine.
