Nice B&B. Great host who serves a hearty decent breakfast.
Bus stop (served by route 3) is no more than a minute walk away making travel to Laxey and Ramsey easy access.
The proerty is across many floors with no lift access. Typically, we were on the top floor which involved 5 sets of stairs (I think if I recall), and my friend was not the most able when it comes to stairs. It doesnt put us off coming to stay again, but just a pre-warning if anybody books here and requires a room that is on a lower level, to check with owner when booking.
The property is also on a steep hill from Douglas Promenade, so it is best coming from the other side. Route 3 stops very close within a minute walk on a flat walk. Again, just advise for anyone booking in future rather than a criticism of the property.

Melrose Guest House has a nice location - it is within walking distance of several key attactions and landmarks in Douglas (i.e. the Steam Railway station, the Manx Museum, Gaeity Theatre, etc.) and can be easily reached from Ronaldsway Airport by bus. Staying here is a cultural experience in itself - Peter gives guests the option to have Manx kippers for breakfast if enough advance notice is given and during breakfast time, he engages in friendly conversation with his guests, some whom are regular visitors that keep coming back to enjoy the Isle of Man. The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable and was well cared for throughout my stay. I would definitely return to this property if given the chance.

Lovely cooked breakfast, great location - good views of Douglas Bay when step out the front door and walk down to the town. Excellent value for money as a single traveller.
Nothing - I stayed in the single room with shared bathroom .. this was absolutely fine, just along the corridor, nice shower - clean bathroom.

Peter, the host, was friendly and welcoming. He had a lot of local information and was always willing to help. The cooked breakfast was good. It seemed that Peter was running the place singlehandedly!
We would have liked some fruit and yoghurt with our breakfast. Our room was rather cramped. There was an ensuite, but the sink was in a corner of the bedroom with a distant and rather high unlit mirror that made shaving difficult. The toilet space in the small bathroom was very limited. My wife had backache after sleeping in the single bed. The room and its fittings were rather dated and needing some tlc.
