Same vibe, value and ease as the last 2 times I stayed here. I'll definitely be back.
Comfortable, clean and warm bed in our private room. There was a fridge in our room, which I don't think was was advertised but it was SO helpful for our long stay.
Relatively quite for a backpackers in our private room.
Good clean, and well organised kitchen facilities.
Friendly faces and lot's of hellos when ever we passed the night entrance.
It could be said that it's a little bit rough around the edges, but I find the character of the visitors and locals living here a plus.
Shared womens showers didn't stay warm enough to get a short 5 min shower in, but that's my general expectation at a backpackers. I just showered earlier in the day and it was better, but still not hot.
They are doing some upgrades to the building so there was some noise, but nothing too early in the day. It's winter so probably the best time for it.
The Night entrance needs a clean. Clean up your cigarette buts, etc, please.

It’s alright for a hostel I guess. We had a private room so I can’t comment on dorms. The room was fairly clean but I think it’s because it was one of the new rooms. The bed was actually very comfy I must say. Location is very good. John was helpful.
The public areas are terrible - very worn down. I think instead of adding more rooms to the building they should have used the money renovating what’s already there. Cleanliness in public areas is not good enough but it’s probably more to do with it all being so old. We were situated right next to a lounge common area which was very echoey and had a piano, TV and lots of sofas. Not the best location for rooms - people were loud and inconsiderate late at night. There were many nights where my partner and I struggled to sleep.
