Very friendly, great food in the pub , lovely location, upgraded us free to chalet
Some dust in places in the room ( shelf above hanging rail area) , pub closed when we arrived and we weren't sure how to get in or find someone to get our key etc maybe add a sign on the side door for guests?

A really friendly helpful family ran Inn, we were made very welcome, food was delicious and well cooked, location was exactly what we needed, lovely views and only a 5 minute drive to Alton Towers, would use again in the future and would recommend to family and friends and hope that they keep going for another 400 years plus!!
Only a couple of small issues, it was not totally clean dead insects on the window sill and some cobwebs on the bathroom unit, windows were not totally clean, not all plug sockets were totally accessible understanding it is an old building but there was enough to use that we needed, the mattress on one of the double beds seemed a little aged these are minor issues which you can overlook and we have no other complaints.

Margaret and all the staff were polite. The location was very good as it was close to Alton towers and the peak district. The food was great and I recommend the fish and fat chunky chips, just like how my mom cooked them, and the fish had a lovely crusty batter, absolutely yummy. The great thing about Alton is that it's surrounded by so many other great towns and villages. Also it's a really peaceful place and hardly any traffic. Last but not least they pour a great pint, try the ales.
Nothing to dislike.

Close to Alton towers, Value for Money, good breakfast.
Very basic rooms, 2 stars or less. the heating was not working correctly, leading to a cold night which was corrected on the second day.
