Lovely location on the water. This is a simple establishment with rustic huts and decking for sun beds and access to the sea. There are reasonably priced excursions including snorkelling and bioluminescence tours daily. The walk to the local village is 15 mins through the mangroves and the lovely ( but busy) playa libre beach a further 10 mins walking. Staff at El Hamaquero are friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant ( independently run to the resort) is reasonably priced for the island and the Cartagena area. Bora Bora the beach club next door plays music from 10-4pm but we didn’t find this annoying.
There are a lot of mosquitoes so definitely bring bug spray. Our mosquito nets help at night.

Everything was perfect: the staff, the rooms very authentic and genuine, the spot of the ocean (the best point of the island for no wind and sunset), the restaurant of Dona Deynia that was super fresh especially with the fish! Thank you for the experience! 10/10!

Being right on the water and the reef was awesome! The hammocks everywhere were a way to get away from the heat and relax. A restaurant on property was great and food was delicious. Room in dorm was separated as a semi-private with little straw partitions and had a mosquitoes net and fans and a towel. Using rain water and solar to be environmentally conscious on a nature preserve was awesome! WiFi worked great.
The staff seemed bothered to do their job. We’re not very friendly if you were trying to ask for something in broken Spanish. For example: claimed to have bug spray just needed to refill it but never did, huffed and puffed when a drink was ordered, 1/2 the menu options were never available. Restaurant is only open for certain times and it doesn’t coincide with activities. Rental gear was broken. They never had cash as change yet had a 5% card charge. This side of the island is coral, so the white sand beach was a 40min walk away.
