Only hotel in the area, which has been refurbished after being used to house refugees, so it is still being improved.
It took a very long time for water to run hot
I had resigned myself to a luke warm shower after running four inches of cold water from the hot tap into the bath. The water began to run hot as I showered.
Small but adequate room. High step up to bathroom.
Steps in the corridors, sprung doors and a curved staircase were a bit hard to navigate with cases.
We paid £30 for two breakfasts but the buffet table had no bread, rolls, pastries, toaster etc and most things had to be asked for. They were then cooked and brought to the table so there was a wait for each item, even toast. I was told that most guests do not have breakfast.
Individual items are much more expensive than paying for a set breakfast.

The building is very nice and the room was large with plenty of windows that open. The staff were very helpful. Very nice bar with outside seating.
The mattress was very soft. The shower was not much more than a dribble and cold. The sink had a huge crack in it. The whole thing was very tired. The building is like a labyrinth of rooms, so interesting trying to find your room, and there are several small steps and slopes that are not signed and very much a trip/fall hazard.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the railway station and within walking distance to the town centre. The rooms are exceptionally clean and have all modern tea/coffee facilities as well as ironing facilities that aren't always in smaller hotels.
The staff are fantastic, especially Zara, who made us feel very welcome and was happy to chat with us about what brought us to the area and gave us the best advice about how to get to Burston early on a Sunday morning. Zara is an absolute credit to the hotel.
The breakfast offer is very good, and if a person has a long day ahead, the butchers breakfast is a must. Charlie, who manages the breakfast room, is fantastic, and nothing is too much trouble.
I'm struggling to find anything that I didn't like.
