This home sits directly across the Eyjafjörður from Akureyri. The views are absolutely amazing! Driving into Akureyri was only about a 5 minute trip. The check-in was contactless with a lock box code texted to us two days ahead of our arrival. That said, Linda and Auðunn were quick to respond to questions by message and phone.
The front entry had plenty of room to keep our many shoes, coats and outdoor wear for our party of 9, including 3 children under 12 who spent 5 days at the property. This area also included a washing/drying machine, which we did not use, but appreciated the several large hanging racks provided when we got wet from rain or swimming pools.
The "open concept" living/dining/kitchen area was spacious and well-equipped, with many windows to enjoy those fabulous views. The kitchen, in particular, had plenty of tableware, silverware, pots, pans, and preparation supplies, which were very much appreciated. There was plenty of seating for all of us, with extra chairs available, and the large deck was wonderful for grilling, eating, and enjoying the view.
Upstairs, there was an enclosed loft with 4 twin beds that was much enjoyed by the cousins. The main level has two bedrooms with comfortable double beds and plenty of hanging space, as well as a bathroom with a small shower and is on the same level as the public rooms. Two additional bedrooms with double beds and a larger bathroom are in the lower level, along with the hot tub, which we did not use. The lower level is accessible only by walking outside the main level. The yard was large, well-kept and great for kids. The area in which the property is located could likely be described as rural but has a number of homes of varying ages, including some new ones under construction, but when we were present, it was a very quiet area. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Thank you Linda and Auðunn for allowing us to enjoy your property.
We were there during the World Cup and had trouble getting continuous reception of the games. In addition, while wifi worked fine, it was challenging if multiple people were using it at the same time.

The cabin was absolutely amazing! It was very roomy, we ere 9 people and it fit us perfectly. The photos do not do this cabin justice - it is 10x more beautiful than the photos! the location is excellent, the cabin is right next to Skógarböðin and only about 5 minute drive to Akureyri center. I would highly recommend this cabin for friends and family trips!
The photos showed a lot worse cabin. I thought the cabin would be way worse, it was so beautiful! The direction to the cabin and how to turn on the hot tub were a bit confusing but it was okay.
