after booking I got a message from the property saying the payment is in cash because their machine doesn’t work or something

Organised, access to the city, well managed, clean, nice touches in the hostel.

The room is clean and cozy. The structure is welcoming. The staff is friendly.

No air conditioning. The key to the room is not secure.

C&O Guesthouse is VERY WELL-LOCATED! Public transportation is literally only a few steps away from its doorstep. There are restaurants and shops close to it and LX Factory -- a complex of cool restaurants which are open until very late -- is just 4-5 minutes away. The guesthouse was also just 8 minutes' walk from our conference site. The place is very clean. There are 2 shared bathrooms and I have never had to wait to use any one of them. The kitchen is spacious and complete with utensils and the necessary appliances to cook or heat up food. Olena is a nice and very accommodating hostess. Our departing flight was at 9:15 in the evening and we asked if we could leave our luggage at the guesthouse until it is time to go to the airport. She agreed and arranged to have us pick them up at 6 pm.

The only 1 thing which I think could be changed/ improved upon is to allow guests to use the washer and dryer in the guesthouse. I had noted in the list of amenities of the place before I booked it that there was a washer and dryer. However, when I thought about washing some clothes on our 4th day (we stayed a total of 6 days), I saw a note that the machines are only for the use of the staff. Fortunately, I had brought enough clothes with me, but it would have been nice to be able to wash some because clean clothes are easier to pack in the luggage than dirty ones which are all stuffed in a plastic bag which tends to be bulky.

Room was bright and clean. Good view of the bridge from the room was delightful.

Lugging the luggage up two flights of stairs was NOT fun - old building so no elevator. Reception did help us bring some luggage up. Bathroom floor VERY slippery when mildly wet. Tripping hazards in bathroom and kitchen as step ups are same color/tile as flooring tile and hard to see.(Fell once) Access through front door, check in area and finally your room uses 3 different keys.

Olena was extremely helpful and easy to communicate with. The accommodations were more towards economical but everything was clean and functioned well. Access up two flights of stairs. She offers a nice kitchen in which one can prepare meals. There is a fridge for guest use, cooking utensils and dishes. We had a fridge in our room. This is an excellent choice for people on a budget.

The rooms are very clean and look pleasant. There's a common area where you can cook dinner, sit down for a drink or eat, wash your clothes, and store items in the fridge (each room has its own container). The location is just a two-minute walk to the LxFactory, and you can grab a taxi to get anywhere quickly. There's a pharmacy downstairs and a nearby supermarket across the street. The bathrooms are cleaned regularly, and the water pressure is very good.

The walls are pretty thin, so bring some earplugs, as you may hear your neighbors staying at the guest house. The bed was quite hard, but that's a personal opinion. One of the showers has a very sensitive temperature mechanism, it was either very cold or extremely hot so it takes some tinkering to get the temperature you want. I had to fill out all my details again on paper on arrivel; it would be easier if they could get all the information from Booking.

We enjoyed our stay at C&O Guest House. It provided clean, convenient accommodation in a great location in Lisbon. There are lots of services nearby and great local restaurants that are much cheaper than those in the main tourist areas. Bus and tram stops as well as two train stations are close by. The owner and staff were very friendly, helpful, and dedicated to helping us enjoy our stay as much as possible.

We were at the Guest House during low tourist season, so the place was quiet and comfortable. I would imagine if there were more guests, it would be noisier as the walls do not contain the sound very well. There is only a pedestal fan for cooling in the rooms, so I wouldn't want to be there when the weather is hot. There was no other place to relax aside from your room. It would have been nice to have had a sitting room with reading chairs.

The hostel was supercosy, comfortable and clean. We loved the location as well. There is very good connection to the city center and Belém, places to eat, things to do. If back in Lisabon, we´re gonna stay here again.

Just a tip... No one’s fault but if you use Uber or any app from airport there are 2 places with the same address and one is near Sintra. So make sure to type Lisbon and the area Alcántara. The area is really nice.

Location was great! It was near harbor and bridge. Many restaurants and pubs around.

Staff say hello with sms about fine 15euro if I'll come late on checkin... This is not really friendly manner howto say hello to customer.

The only upside is location of the property. Its close to plenty of local coffee shops and little markets, as well as 5 mins walk to the LX market. It sits between Belem and Alfama so in that respect, it was convenient. Tram and bus stops are just down the road, literally at the doorstep. We opted for a family room, so the size is expected for what was paid for.

1) Communication wasn't clear, which resulted me in making an international call to contact the front office to find out that the front office don't open till 11am. That call cost me a chunk of money. 2) I booked and paid for a family room with 2 double beds. But was told during check in that its only for 1 bed, and I had to pay an additional EU5 to get the 2nd double bed. Which makes no sense because both beds are in the same room. In my booking confirmation, it did show booking was for 2 double beds. Unfortunately during check in I wasn't able to retrieve the printed confirmation as it was in my luggage. After which it felt pointless to bring it up. 3) Room facilities were not as advertised. Washer and dryer - guest not allowed to use. Bidet in the bathroom was broken. AC in the room broken. But these amenities were listed as part of the room offerings. 4) No elevator. Expected this as it was made clear in the website. Stairs were narrow and floors were high. 5) At check in, we were asked to pay in cash,giving the excuse that the credit system was down. This was unacceptable. You should not expect guests to pay in cash like this when the booking was meant for credit card payment. What would have happened if we didn't have enough?? Honest opinion, We left the place feeling very much cheated. Never again.

Location good - 3 km to the old city and 2,5 km to Belem. The lady from Ukraine at reception was so nice and very helpful. The facility was clean and cosy.

What I did not like was a bunk bad.

The bathrooms and the kitchen, although shared, were surprisingly clean. Even though it seems a bit far out, the Bus to central only takes 10 minutes and we had incredible food nearby at the LX Factory, so we loved the location. We were welcomed by staff who gave us some recommendations.

The amnesties in the room could be better, it was quite hot and the fan didn’t really help. Also one side of the bed doesn’t have a bedside table and no plugs which was inconvenient. Also, upon arrival in the staircase we were greeted by a cockroach which wasn’t ideal, however there weren’t any in the guesthouse.
