My first room was uninhabitable…the bed had broken springs, the grab bar in bathroom fell off, the drawers were locked with no keys to open them or they were jammed shut.
The second afternoon I was upgraded and moved to a better room which was much nicer…but there was no outlet by the bed to charge a phone and the shower was tiny.
The hotel did not have the amenities usually found in a five star hotel. The front desk was understaffed, often with a young man who was not knowledgeable and there was no concierge.
The lobby and breakfast room were beautiful but not available for use if there was a private function going on.
The location was excellent and central. However there was no subway station nearby.
The hotel has a long history in Rome and has great potential but does not merit a five star rating.
Also, booking.com was of no help to resolve my problems. I could not get past AI on the app nor speak to anyone. I was informed that someone would call me within 24 hours but that didn’t happen. It is now four days since I contacted them and I still haven’t been contacted.

The building is stunning but it is very dated. The location is the best and staff are friendly but they do nothing.
The rooms were very dated. Sockets did not work. There were no tissues in the room , I asked the receptionist twice and the room cleaner and nothing! There were restaurants that made so much noise at 6:30 am . It is very expensive but the service was so terrible.
