Lovely hotel, friendly reception staff
Bar and waiting staff seemed unsure of what they were doing and a bit stressed the evening we dined. Late night sing-song outside our bedroom window likely post wedding. Felt senior staff should have asked them to move inside or quieten down

All the food was delicious, we enjoyed every meal and the staff especially friendly and helpful.
We were disappointed with the bedroom - small & pokey, very warm and bed small.

The cost of staying at this hotel is significant, and for that price, I expected accommodations that reflected a much higher standard. Instead, the room felt very dated. The carpet and curtains looked old and worn, giving the room an overall tired and somewhat dirty appearance, even if they had technically been cleaned. While the bed was reasonably comfortable, nothing about the room justified the premium price. I've stayed in hotels that offered more modern rooms, better amenities, and a much nicer overall experience for literally half the cost.
One of our biggest priorities when booking was getting a quiet room. We specifically requested one, yet we were placed directly above the hotel's wedding venue. Unfortunately, there was a wedding every single night of our stay. Every evening we had to listen to music, guests, and the general noise that comes with large celebrations. It was incredibly frustrating, especially since we'd made our request well in advance.
The room itself was also unbearably hot when we arrived. The curtains had been left completely open, allowing the afternoon sun to bake the room for hours before our arrival. When we walked in, it felt like an oven. I understand that Ireland doesn't typically experience prolonged periods of hot weather and that air conditioning isn't standard everywhere, but there was absolutely no airflow whatsoever. At a minimum, some form of ventilation or even portable fans should have been provided during an unusually hot spell. Instead, we spent our stay trying to cool the room ourselves, which made sleeping extremely difficult.
By our last night, after several nights of poor sleep, we asked if we could move to a quieter room. The staff accommodated the request, and while it was marginally quieter than the previous room, it introduced an entirely different problem. The new room overlooked an outdoor seating area with benches and tables where guests gathered to talk late into the evening.
