The location of the hotel is perfect. It is a very short walk (10 minutes approximately) from Haymarket train station. Atmosphere was very good and the staff were fantastic and keen to help. The rooms were lovely and enjoyed the welcome chocolates and biscuits when I arrived. The pillows were hard though and that needs changing and amenities in the fridge (mini bar) were quite cheap in terms of cheap soda and would have been better if there was a can of coca cola in there instead. The TV had issues too with the remote control having a foreign language and not calibrating with the TV.
The value of the hotel was good and I am pleased with the price paid. The hotel room was very clean and spotless. The noise level was absolutely fine with no concerns. I would give 5/5 stars nevertheless and the food was amazing and enjoyed my dinner (Chicken burger/tiramisu for dessert). I would be happy to stay here ago and would love to do so. I hope the hotel will make the changes above to improve the stay in future.

The room was very well equipped and the beds were super comfortable.
Breakfast in the morning was excellent, with varied food choices and nice tea.
The room was in a quiet location which we appreciated.

The hotel and the room were clean and fresh.
We arrived around 8:30 AM after an overnight flight, hoping to get into our room early. They did not have a room available, which I totally understand. But I found it odd that the person who was on the desk had a very casual golf shirt on that was dirty! It’s a small point, but it’s the first impression when we arrived at the hotel and this employee was simply not dressed very professionally.

Sadly, there was a lot we didn't like... very average and certainly not what we expected from a 4-star property.
Everything about the hotel felt extremely basic. To make matters worse, the location is quite a trek from the city centre, which made getting around far less convenient than we had hoped for. The room itself was uncomfortable; the mattress was far too soft, which resulted in me waking up with a bad back both mornings. Additionally, the air conditioning was not working properly, and it was a warm weekend. Thankfully, we were able to open the windows.
The most frustrating part of the stay was the breakfast. The food was fine, but the coffee was dispensed from a machine using powdered milk, and it tasted awful. Given that we paid £250 per night, it is frankly outrageous to be served such low-quality coffee. When we raised this issue with the staff, we were simply told that if we wanted fresh coffee and fresh milk, we would have to pay extra. He acted like he couldn't care less and was argumentative.
For the price point, this hotel does not offer the level of quality or service one would expect. I would not recommend it. In fact, I will never book a Mercure hotel again after this.
