The room was small but nice. The kitchen was well equipped. Microwave was also available but no normal stove oven. The area is nothing special, but safe to wonder and walk. Quiet neighbourhood. It is also close to the Brussels canal, so it is nice to walk along during the day. Some people also swim in it... Also very close is a public swimming pool (Ceria). The metro is about 5 min. walk (then about 30min. ride to the city center)
There was also a fan in the room which was absolutely necessary for the period I stayed, as it was exceptionally hot!!!
The nearest carrefour supermarket is about 10 min. walk away.
Unfortunately, even with the fan in the room, due to the fact that it was hot and the room is "seen by the sun" for the whole afternoon it was really hot inside. OK, it was exceptional weather conditions, but this is a warning for potential hot days in Brussels... it will not be very comfortable! For normal weather conditions there should be no problem at all.
What I didn't like is that although the property charges 10 euro per night cleaning and 5 euro per night for towels, this service was actually never applied. Only the first day the two rubbish bins were emptied (kitchen & bathroom). No cleaning and no towels changed.

The host is delightful - she is very friendly and clearly wants to be helpful. She speaks very little English, mostly French, which was fine for me but could be a challenge for a non-French-speaker. The room is clean, pretty, and has a little kitchenette that was well stocked with utensils and dishes. The radiator worked very well and I didn't hear too much outside noise despite the location of the hotel (see below). The bed is very comfy!
Ultimately, most of my issues with the place came down to me being a solo female traveler. The area is not very nice - the hotel is DIRECTLY underneath the Anderlecht train station (although my sleep wasn't disrupted by noise). There are keypads instead of keys to enter the rooms, and because of the way the code for each room was determined, it would be VERY easy for any other resident at the hotel to figure out your room code and enter your room. I think that solo male travelers would feel perfectly fine here, but solo women may want to skip it, as I struggled to feel safe in the evenings.
The hot water in my room also only lasted a minute or two each time I took a shower. :(
