Breakfast at the Anantara is really wonderful. Sumptuous breakfast with many choices, attentive and extremely friendly staff and the ambience magical. We stayed in a large, spacious room which beautifully combined classic charm with modern convenience.
Just the facilities at the spa... I think there is rationing of energy given the current environment which I am very sympathetic too, but the quality of products - shampoo and conditioner did not match the label.

It is a beautiful hotel, with amazing staff members. The first hotel I stayed at where there was a doorbell for the room. The bedroom was immaculate, with complimentary water, tea and coffee. They delivered the luggage to the room from the entrance. They took them off our hands before we could even reach the entrance. Thank you very much for that! Complimentary little cakes were given to us, and a turndown room attendant tidied up our room (even tidying up the cosmetics in our bathroom and replacing water bottles) while we went to the spa. We were definitely spoiled;) Thank you very much!
Unfortunately there was some mould in the shower ( in the silicon) and some marks in the bathtub. Many beautiful hotels I stayed at had this problem. I hope they can invest more money in the cleaners, as I am sure they are trying their best, but probably are overwhelmed. I wish hotels in general would realise the importance of clean, mould free bathtub and shower. Otherwise it was very clean everywhere else in the bathroom.
Also we had the bad luck of not being able to use the pool as it was being cleaned. We were quite disappointed, but I guess accidents happen and they said it would be cleaned within a few hours. Unfortunately we had dinner reservation by then😊

Loved the building, reminds me of the Landmark Hotel in London. The Tea and cakes in the atrium were great and the barman in the bar was very customer focused. Our Room was a great size. Overall the staff are friendly and pleasant, however we have stayed in many Anantaras before, but overall this was a poor experience. So much that i cancelled our future planned 4 nights in Amsterdam in an Anantara property, and booked a different hotel instead.
Breakfast wasnt 5 star at all. The service was hit and miss. 25 mins for 2 fried eggs and 20 mins for 2 coffees. I dont blame the egg station chef, he wad just over- worked. They need two staff not one. Dinner in the white salon was not great either, my wifes pasta hadnt actually been cooked properly (it wasnt just al dente, it just wasnt cooked). In the room the shower door seal was broken, as was the rack holding the shampoo etc. A screw actually fell out the wall on one occaison whikst having a shower. The cleaning was sporadic. Had to leave a note to refill the lotion / shampoo bottles. The worst issue was the noise from the street. The continual police sirens was awful. Whilst it is a beautiful grand building, and it leverages the New York cafe ambience, whilst it truly could be a fantastic hitel, sadly sporadic service lets it down significantly.
