Puerto Natales is a handy place for getting to some really amazing plaaces, e.g. Torres del Paine, and the Cuernos trail. The latter is much easier and more rewarding.
The is a good bakery close by, and the town centre is just a few blocks away. Taxis are cheap if you are too tired to walk.
