Brunton Boatyard - A CGH Earth Experience

Nice atomosphere, intersting places to vicit nearby. Very nice staff. Cgh Airport Counter Mr Aslah assited more than our expectation. in both pick up and drop off.

A wonderful calm oasis in the middle of Fort Kochi. Beautifully appointed hotel with a tasteful decor. Great staff. Ethical company. A very tasty meal from the History Restaurant. We had a 2am flight so booked a transfer. We were not expecting Ashil (a company employee) to meet us at the airport , collect our luggage guide us through the check in process and even get us a upgrade for the flight. Far exceeding our expectations. Outstanding service. Highly recommended.

The hotel is in a colonial building formerly used as a boatyard, so it’s located next to the ferry terminal. It is particularly funny floating in the pool and observing ferries and fishing boats pass, and sea birds swooping and eating their fishy prey overhead. The hotel itself is airy, clean and decorated well. The staff are helpful, and there is a fair system for wages and the distribution of tips by the CGH earth management (the company who own this hotel). (They also provide a tap in the outside wall with free drinking water for the public, which is a great initiative.) There are tuk tuk outside, uber is easy, and it’s a short walk to the Chinese fishing nets and other sites of Fort Cochin. The breakfast was amazing, as were the Armoury Grill at night, and the History restaurant. The hotel organises free breakfast yoga, a sunset boatride and afternoon tea at your request

The food was exceptional at both History and Armoury and the restaurant staff is attentive and considerate. For example, they offered to pack additional breakfast as they thought I didn’t eat enough. The complimentary 45-minute sunset cruise is a must-do. The design, maps and architecture are worth seeing as well.

Faced recurring issues with electricity and air conditioning in my room, which completely spoilt the overall experience. After complaining to the staff multiple times, they kept mentioning that it is due to load shedding. However, the electricity in my room was out for 20 minutes and then 10 minutes each time, indicating that the generator was not working correctly as well. This also meant that the room did not cool down properly at all, which disrupted my sleep. My request for a room change was completely ignored. For a property charging relatively high prices, such issues unacceptable. Asking the guest multiple times whether the issue was resolved is not enough, if you cannot provide a logical solution. They also did not send anyone to the room, even for a courtesy visit, which should be the bare minimum. Additionally, the room was not ready at the stated check-in time.
