View!!

Super fantastic beautiful location just on top of the ocean. Constantly helpful and smiling staff it's a true pleasure to hang around. Great breakfast, with the best view over the ocean, leaves nothing else to request. Very fresh, clean and nice atmosphere.

It's remote so you need transport (Tuk tuk) to get in to Welligama, but staff arranges with ease. Constant sound of the waves, could be seen as a good thing ;)

Can't wait to return

Everything. New Bay View ticked every box for us. The view from our room was stunning, if you can get an upper deck very worth it. The room was clean, comfortable, equipped with a fridge. We stayed over Christmas and they made us feel like home. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was devine and lots of it. We never felt hungry. For lunch or dinner we recommend any of the local fish they've caught that day, we had with a garlic sauce and oh my gosh YUM. Plus this place has the best Chicken Kothuri we've tried since being in Sri Lanka. 10/10 you must try. Suresh the host was kind and welcoming, he was happy to organise anything we needed. Paritha was such a credit to the hotel, he was very attentive at breakfast service, he was always so busy, we never saw him not working, always sweeping or cleaning or looking after a guest. Value for money - so worth it. There are parts of the hotel that need updating - not the main areas ie room, resturant, foyer all lovely. But downstairs where the sundeck is and there is a stunning area below the resturant which is under cover view of the sea perfect for evening relaxing watching the sea. This does need a lick of paint, but the guys are on it. There were many people painting while we were there and in the 7 nights we stayed some of the rooms were transformed. Location - it's a little out of town, which was perfect for us, as far from the busy main road and the loud trainline. Be prepared to take a tuk tuk or a 30min walk. Alot of the tuk tuks have surf roof racks so you can store the surfboard at the hotel if needed. We can not wait to come back, if we are ever in Sri Lanka again this will be the place we come to.

Getting in and out of the room after it rained the tiles make the floor quite slippery. However this is just a small section of the hotel and only if you're in the part of the hotel we were. So just take care here.

Wonderfully relaxing stay - Thank you so much

My second time in the hotel and I enjoyed again the amazing view and the great staff. I had a really good time to relax because its very quiet and the lounge is so comfortable to chill, eat or little bit to work on notebook. The restaurant was also really delicious with fresh fish and food. I will come back. Gladly again. Thank you so much.

Superb

Really clean and comfortable rooms with European standards! The view to the sea is really nice and there are many places to sit, chill and enjoy this panorama. You can directly start snorkeling from the location (we even saw a turtle), for swimming it's better to visit Jungle Beach (10 minutes to walk).

Wifi connection in our room was not really good and it‘s a bit away from the city and the main beaches, but you can easiliy go there by Tuktuk

the room we had on the ground floor had no sea view as it says on booking; but they gave us an upgrade to the first floor and the view you have here is gorgeous

Hidden gem!

What an absolute hidden gem! this property is in such a prime location, secluded, but close enough to busy Weligama around the corner. Basicly a private beach out front with incredible snorkeling. Jump in the ocean right from the tanning deck out front. Rooms were big and super comfortable with amazing sea views. Staff super friendly and accommodating. Also, don’t go anywhere else for dinner, their food is spectacular! Fresh fish from the day available, but everything we tried was so tasty! Highly recommend!

If you are looking for a quiet and welcoming place with very good food, this is the right choice.

We have had a wonderful few days at the Hotel New Bay View Villa. Claudia and her team are masters of hospitality. We got everything we needed. Our room was on the second floor with balcony and best sea view. The staff is always in a good mood, helpful and there for a chat. We also would like to mention the very good cuisine. It is worth to order a fresh fish here. The neighborhood is welcoming and it is worth to walk around. The center of Weligama can be reached in max. 5 minutes TukTuk ride. We will come back again.

Entrance/Stairs to the ocean should be made safer.

Very good

Nice ocean view and the possibility to go snorkeling or surfing direct in front of the beach. Very friendly employees (even offered us vegan breakfast).

The rooms are a little bit old and dark and in our opinion a little bit too expensive.

An isolated paradise! We will return.

The location is awesome, right on the cliff with steps to the beach. Well worth the extra for an ocean view room. Falling asleep to the sound of the sea. Take swimming shoes as the beach in front of the hotel has a reef and the stones are sharp. Amazing snorkelling. Try the Sri Lankan breakfast (amazing) but the European is also good. Lovely friendly staff.

Hard to find! The balconies are connected but the glass is one way so people can’t see in but it’s quite disconcerting to have somebody walking past when you’re lying in bed!

High potential, beautiful location, unfortunately coincided with a disruptive party

Beautiful views onto the ocean, comfortable rooms, the place really has a lot of potential

Note - originally posted a lower rating but was called multiple times by the owner asking me to bump up to not hurt the booking algorithm. Updated in the good faith that an effort will be made to improve service towards guests Lock on my door did not work my entire stay, staff were unable to provide any solution for me to ensure my belongings were secure when I was out of the hotel (room remained unlocked) The hotel decided to throw an (overpriced) Christmas Eve party which we were unaware of before checking in. With 0 guests at the party the staff still decided to run their club-worthy speakers until 1AM - my room literally felt like it was in the middle of a nightclub. Just ridiculous

Superb location

The view is spectacular. Right at the ocean's edge. Very much enjoyed my stay. The room wasn't big, but was adequate. Good A/C and fan and patio with sea view. An emergency light was provided in each room which was super because we had a three hour power cut. I didn't take breakfast, but it was included for genius guests. Bottled water is provided. The chill out area is a great idea, very comfortable and again a super view of the ocean.

The shower was not very powerful. Needs attention I think. The menu gave plenty of choices and the food was tasty, but it was a little expensive. I pay less in Colombo at good restaurants and paid less in two classy hotels in Weligama town. Local Sri Lankan coffee only.

A place with a nice view but that needs to be refreshed

Nice ocean view. The air conditioning system is really noisy ! Our room was clean but furnitures are really old. The area around the hotel is not so pleasant even if nice beaches are really close by walking distance

AMAZING view from balcony

The view from room’s balcony was stunning. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The beach area is beautiful. We had lovely dinners in Weligama town - it’s 5min tuktuk ride away. Weligama is a perfect spot to practice surfing. The laundry service is cheap and quick. We absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely go again!

The building is slightly outdated but it didn’t bother us at all. There were some ants in the room but staff provided us a spray which helped. The bed was bit noisy.

Great stay at this lovely beach hotel

We loved this place, so incredibly close to the ocean and lovely staff. We spent four great night here and was very well taken care of. It’s a small place so it was calm and relaxing. The beach in front of the hotel is hard to top, and to make it even better, almost now mosquitoes!

There were some ants in the room, very small and friendly but be careful to leave food out. The AC was working but a bit slow.
