The Cults Hotel

Well equipped hotel on the edge of the city. The check in//out process was smooth, facilities were clean, and great breakfast. Good value for money.

The hotel is a bit dated so the soundproofing wasn't quite as good as you'd get in more 'modern' facilities. It felt a bit dated in parts too (my parents room had a trouser press from the 90s!) - but it was very clean and we were there for one night only.

Location was perfect for the function we were attending

Limited car parking spaces......however we did get a good one.

Everything

The rooms were really quite nice, they had everything you could possibly need and they were clean. Very handy location opposite the bus stop. The Sunday night was also quite quiet and I slept a lot better than the Saturday night.

Unfortunately, everything else did not support the pleasant surroundings. Appeared to be understaffed and also informed us just three days before arrival that there was going to be a function on the Saturday night and there might be "a bit of noise." That noise started around 7pm and practically shook me in my bed when I tried to settle down for the night, and there was no chance of any sleep before midnight. I had stayed there especially to join the Aberdeen Kiltwalk the following day in order not to have to get the early train but I wished I'd just done that. I genuinely don't get why hotels do this when you are paying to sleep somewhere. I also had originally only booked one night and tried to book a second night with them directly as I thought it would be easier because Booking.com didn't seem to be allowing me to extend my stay, and the hotel said they didn't have any of the same room left for the second night but if I was willing to change rooms I could be put in a slightly more expensive room but when it got to that evening there were now cheaper rooms being advertised on Booking.com whereas before they hadn't so I don't know what that was about. They also then got confused at checkout and said I needed to pay the bill when I'd paid the night before when checking in and they did admittedly refund the second payment when they realised their mistake, but all in all it seemed very disorganised. I think that £20 difference I paid for the more expensive room should be going towards my Kiltwalk fundraising cause after all that stress.
