The location was lovely, the staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful. Food was good when you come back tired and hungry and the place was clean.
The drive up there is a little tricky as the quality of the road is not the best. Also, I get why they do it but waterproof mattresses are not the most conducive to a good night’s sleep in a dorm because of the weak when people move around in their beds

Location was stunning and perfect for climbing Hellvelyn and exploring the area.
Possibly a hot water geiser would be better in the kitchen. I spent a lot of time waiting for the kettle to be free to use.

Really nice evening meal. Very friendly atmosphere, friendly staff everything well explained. Glamping pod was extremely cosy and location was perfect

The staff were so lovely and friendly and the breakfast was great, love a buffet! We didn't get a chance to use the self catered kitchen but it looked fully stocked and some other guests used it and said it was great. There were games available which was lovely and the food and drinks were served until really late which is great for people arriving later in the day.
Honestly the hostel wasn't bad at all. The road to the hostel is a bit crazy, which isn't the hostel's fault at all but we really weren't sure if we were driving the right road. Google maps directed us to some cottages at the start of a winding, stony, single track road and said that is where the hostel is but we had to ask some residents where the hostel was and then some hikers we met along the track if we were going the right way. A simple sign at the start of the track saying "YHA this way" would've been helpful and reassuring.
Maybe it was our room but the WiFi didn't work consistently, which isn't a massive issue but was a bit of a problem when we were trying to sort out our maps. Also the only light is the main one, so it was either bright light in the whole room or no light at all.
