We had a hard time finding a room in this area. It was nice, they had a fully equipped kitchen with a lot of accessories to use.
Nothing really, we could have used more towels, but didn't ask either

The kitchen was really nice, rooms were great and pretty clean.
My suggestion would be to put a sign on each side of the door leading to the bedrooms to keep the door closed. During our one night stay, the other guests were up early cooking in the kitchen and left the door open. All the chatting could be heard to the bedrooms and the smell of their food came all the way into the bedroom and disturbed our sleep.

Skipalaekur is a lovely, quiet and quaint guesthouse that reminded me a little of my university days. It has a dormitory-style arrangement, with a shared kitchen and dining area, although there is no separate living room.
Our room was spacious enough to keep our luggage open without getting in the way, and it had its own private toilet and shower. We stayed for only one night while travelling from Hnappavellir to Akureyri, and it suited our needs very well.
The guesthouse faces Lagarfljot, where you can take a walk along the water or simply sit on the stones and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Egilsstadir town centre, where there are several restaurants and grocery stores, is approximately 4 km away or about five minutes by car. Egilsstadir Airport is also very close—around 2.4 km or a four-minute drive.
Since the guesthouse has a dormitory-style layout, you can hear other guests opening and closing doors, talking in the hallway or dining area.

I loved the self check in option, all comunication was correct, easy and just in great time in advance. We loved all service as a guest house.
