Really nice old coaching inn with many original features including the wonky floors and (very) low ceilings and beams.
Great food in the evening restaurant with great service and a nice hot cooked breakfast.
Friendly staff.
I would have preferred a slightly earlier breakfast as I had to rush it down in order to get to my appointment a few miles' drive away on time.

Conveniently location on route to Scotland.
Some details advertised weren’t delivered or had to be requested. Being charged an extra fee for our dog even though we already booked and paid for a dog-friendly room - and this was confirmed prior. It was also just added to our dinner bill without a word so we had to ask. We also didn’t get the dog-welcome pack which wasn’t a deal breaker for us but is another example of detail they ought to be on top of - especially if they’re going to promote it.
