The place was roomy. The shower had good water pressure and warm water. Kitchen was well appointed though the items could have been cleaner. Host replaced coffee pot when we broke it but the replacement was full of cobwebs and bugs. Thankfully I ran a pot of water through before making coffee. She traded the cost of breaking it for the free breakfast that was not actually provided. The host was usually prompt in returning calls or texts and tried to address the issues that came up. There were just a lot of issues.
The host has multiple properties. Their reviews are all together on Booking so I wasn't able to tell which reviews were for our property. This one is for the 2 bedroom apartment. Instructions for finding the place were confusing. It was not across from Hotel Heliconia but near the entrance to Cala Lodge on the same property where the host lives. She had a young woman meet us at the gate. It was 30-40 yards across the grass for me to carry my luggage in the dark and rain the evening we arrived. The next morning I saw the very large hill of leaf cutter ants; thankfully I don't think I drug my suitcase through it. The host did help carry our luggage on departure when we asked. Large dogs roamed freely some days in the yard between the gate and our front door. Though friendly enough they did jump on us. The worst part was when the wind was strong and something dropped on the tin roof so loudly it sounded like bowling balls hitting! Turned out to be avacados and they fell every 5-10 minutes our next to last night there. I got no sleep at all. The host did offer to let me sleep in one of her other rooms the last night but it wasn't as windy that night. There was no hot water at the kitchen sink, bathroom sink or washer, only at the shower head. The linens were clean but some were worn with holes and stains. The washer had 1-2 inches of standing water and was quite dirty and mildewed when we arrived. After we got it to empty and cleaned it, we started a load before going to bed. It ran all night long and wouldn't change cycles. We had to manually move it to rinse and then again to spin. With no dryer it was difficult to get our items dry. There was a clothesline outside but rain in the forecast. Our primary reason for choosing this property was the washing machine. We didn't really need the kitchen or separate bedrooms. There were other beautiful properties for less money I wish we'd chosen and just sent our clothes to be cleaned.

Parking was difficult at times due to shared parking space with restaurant.

It was quite messy outside and awkward to walk to the room. The room is a bit oldfashioned and the bathroom was a bit smelly.

Convenient, centrally located. Nice staff.
Unpleasant sewer smell. Bed too soft. We were first offered a larger room, but it was noisy, with a poorly fitting door to the outside and no door on the bathroom, which was right next to the bed. It also suffered from the same smell.

location is great. you can walk to Monteverde (about 50 minutes hike).
i know it’s very affordable option. However, I wish it has a few hangers and one or two cups. Since the place is above the restaurant, you smell food, not too bad tho.

Property is amazing, it has a lot of spaces to enjoy and relax with friends/family and the green area is a great plus! Hosts are also super helpful and housewarming

Nice room and shower with hot water. Good location for getting a bus to the cloud forest. Owner helped us arrange transport to Santa Elena Cloud Forest too. Breakfast is served at a bakery down the street and is good. It's an uphill walk from the center of town but we were glad of the quiet. There are good restaurants within 5 mins walk. I'd definitely stay again.
Shower pressure was a bit weak but not a big deal.

The room was located above the restaurant which serves excellent food. The mattress was firm and the shower hot. I like to prepare my breakfast myself, for that the host gave me everything necessary including hot water for my flask for tea. Next time in Santa Elena… I will choose this accommodation again.

Nice and cozy room, easy to reach - even by walk from the bus station in Santa Elena. Our Host was really helpful and we enjoyed the breakfast in the nearby bakery and had dinner in their restaurant - food was also really nice and the staff was so kind. We would come back any time :)

It was walking distance to many restaurants and stores. There is a very nice restaurant on the premises. The owner was very nice.

Very welcoming and helpful hosts. They went out of their way to help me with any questions, bookings and general guidance and tips. The room is very pleasant. I enjoyed the breakfast, which is provided in a nice café just a block away.
A few minor points. I would have appreciated a bedside light for reading. And it seems nearly impossible to shower without getting the floor outside the shower wet.

Breakfast was good. It opened at 6 am and served at Taty's Bakery. Hosts were kind to let me leave my bags with them and collect them later at 4 pm. It is a safe location and I had no problems. The room was serviceable at the standard I was expecting. The restaurant itself was really good too.
It was hard to find the room. It was actually really confusing for the driver. You have to ask them to drop you off at Restaurante Thomas & Thiago. The room is really a building behind the restaurant (but they are related). Taxi from the centre of town is about 1500 CRC. Easy to walk into town because it is downhill, but quite a big hill coming up from it and from the bus station.

Was very windy at night, front door didn't fit properly and banged and bashed all night.
Only 2 chairs for a room for 4 at table.
TV in Spanish and remote didn't work.

the owners were nice and helpful with letting me know about tours and how the public transportation works. there is a cute local coffee shop to have breakfast. they also have their restaurant.
it doesn't have and outdoor area to sit. it's a tiny room to just sleep. doesn't have a fan nor AC. the walls are very thin so you can hear others.

We booked this B&B because we received a cancelation in the middle of our trip. I thought it looked nice and booked it. Once we were there, we were welcomed by Jose, an entrepreneur in the region. The place was amazingly clean and comfortable, it was very nice. But the most amazing thing was our host Jose. He cooked the breakfast in his restaurant and it was delicious, I can definitely tell you that we tried the most delicious pasta and wine in his restaurant.
He recommended the bridges from one resort and arranged the reservation, it was totally worth it since we had such an amazing time with the hummingbirds.
I recommend you to stay with Jose if you want to see the best of the locals in Monteverde, in despite of the covid-19 pandemic hit the tourism real hard, they will receive you with a smile in their faces and make you feel like home. Thank you for all Jose!
