About this house rental
Situated in Hood River, this charming house for $149 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. We completed the transformation of 1217 May St. into an nightly rental in early December of 2019 and are proud to offer a high end experience to our guests. 100% of the furniture as well as the furnishing are brand new as of 12/01/2019 which include: Queen sized memory foam mattresses, 55" UHD 4K TV w/ Netflix provided, Modern styled furniture, a well stocked kitchen and custom art throughout the home. Amenities and Appliances available include: Ample parking, equipment storage, High speed WiFi, Automatic coffee pot, Microwave, Toaster, Quality baking and cookware to name a few. Additionally the location cannot be beat as you will be staying around the corner from 12th St. which is the "Heights" of Hood River. 12th St. is where you will find Hood River locals eating at Pine Street Bakery and Lake Taco, enjoying craft beer at Volcanic Bottle Shop and shopping at several cute boutique stores. If you are up for a short walk or a quick car ride, downtown Hood River is less than 1 mile away. Oak St. is the heart of HR and lined with many more shops and restaurants that we are happy to recommend.

The parking was odd because you have to drive up a slender driveway between two of the three houses that share the same driveway, then go behind the carport of one of the houses and park in the grass behind the house. The location was great because you can walk to a lot of nice locations (parks, hospital, eateries, aquatic center, etc.). The house itself is charming. Its old but nicely redone on the inside. The beds are firm but comfortable to get a decent rest for your stay. The bathtub is deep and does for a nice soak. The heating was cut off when we arrived so it was 47° inside, but when turned on it worked well and heated fast. Overall, it is worth the price and probably even more enjoyable in the warmer months.

I only stayed in this house for 1 night but for that night it worked out great. The property was exactly as described.
The only trouble that I had was actually finding the driveway and parking area. It is pretty hidden as to get into the backyard you actually have to drive between 2 neighboring houses and around a carport. It may be problematic to fit a really large vehicle up there.

Great little spot close to downtown. We only stayed in Hood River for one night just to check out a few breweries, this location was great, only about 1-2 miles from the spots we went to. The parking is interesting but as long as you read their specific directions it all makes sense.

We were celebrating my brother-in-law's birthday in Hood River. The house was a great location, walkable to many places; it was tidy and had lovely character.
The hosts were very easy to communicate with and we are gracious for that! I would definitely recommend.

My partner and I got married in Hood River and this was the perfect location for our venue at the Crag Rat Hut. It provided the space we needed to get ready and relax after our event. It was close to the farmer's market and one of the BEST breakfast places ~ Egg River Cafe. Can't wait to go back and explore more of Hood River.

We enjoyed staying in Hood River for two nights. It is a nice town and the ideal spot to go kayaking, beer tasting and hiking! The house was nice and the bedrooms are decorated really well. The parking is quite tight so for those with bigger cars it would be a challenge.

We had a great stay at this Hood River property. The owners were awesome at communicating with us before and during our stay. We needed a few items for the house and they were dropped off right away. The AC at this house was awesome! Kept it nice and cool! Plenty of space for our daughter’s travel crib. It was nice to have the shampoo/body wash/conditioner dispenser in the shower. You can walk to town to shop but be prepared to walk back uphill. It was nice to have Netflix access in the evenings.

It was a very cute property & comfortable home. The only thing was the parking area was dirt so when it rains it turns into mud & you track it back into your vehicle. Steep hill if you prefer to walk, but we did it! I would recommend for couples.

We stayed here for 1 night to help break up a long drive and we were glad we did!
It was so close to everything in town, checkin was easy, and parking around back was easy thanks to the clear instructions.

Great place close to downtown "strip"
We had a great stay at this home and were able to enjoy a white Christmas! It's a short little drive to the downtown strip of Hood River and the bedrooms were far apart for privacy if you have multiple guests. The only thing we missed was having a real fire in the fireplace but figured it they had an electric one in place for safety. :) The beds are a lovely size (but ideal for people who like firmer mattress texture) and each room had plenty of storage for personal items. The kitchen was a great size with everything you need to cook. Would definitely stay here again!

The outside definitely doesn't reflect the inside. They've done a nice job making an old rather run down looking house nice on the inside. One bedroom opens to the living room and the other bedroom is next to the single bathroom. Take note, it is an older home, so the bathroom is rather small and you'll be struggling to find places to put your things. The living area is comfortable and good for gathering for 3-4 people. The kitchen is updated (with high countertops, so take note if you are short!) Also take note, there is no laundry, which we overlooked when we booked.
Overall the home was very clean and check-in / check-out was very easy.
Parking is outside behind the house in a compacted yard, so it can get a little muddy in the rainy season. The house is also on a relatively busy road, across from the hospital emergency room, so take note if you are a light sleeper (thankfully there are new windows to help keep the noise out). It's a bit of a walk to consider from the downtown, but parking is easy downtown so not a big deal as long as you are ok with that.
There are a few places to walk to close by (restaurants, brewery, bakery) and there is a grocery store a mile or so up the road.
The owner/prop manager was very responsive when I asked for the possibility of a late check-out (answer was no, but polite). However, after our stay, when I reported that the smoke/carbon monoxide detectors in the kitchen went off several times in the middle of the night, and recommended someone should take a look, I never heard back. We barely slept the second night, wondering if it was a false alarm or maybe there was actually a concerning amount of carbon monoxide in the air. Hopefully they did take a look and just forgot to respond.

We had a fantastic stay in the heights! The home was roomy enough for my husband, toddler, and myself. We had very comfy beds and a well-stocked kitchen. The location was so perfect we walked to eateries for most meals. Our hosts also provided their top recommendations for restaurants which was appreciated!
