Nestled in Iowa, this charming house for $581 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. As you walk into this spacious 5 bedroom home, each with it's own private bath, you will instantly feel a sensation of calm and comfort. Our fully stocked kitchen will serve all your cooking needs. Our home is located minutes from the Owner's Club where you can enjoy indoor/outdoor pools, basketball/tennis courts, game room, fitness center and more. As our guest you will also have access to the Marina and the Shenandoah Riding Center. After an exciting day exploring Galena's rich history, pour yourself a glass of wine from one of the local wineries and sit in the relaxing sunroom as you breathe in the fresh country air while enjoying the peaceful scenery. Or immerse yourself in our hot tub and soak your stress away. * NOTE THE GRILL WILL BE CLOSED FROM NOVEMBER 1ST TO APRIL 1ST. ALSO A RING DOORBELL HAS BEEN INSTALLED AT THE FRONT DOOR FOR SECURITY REASONS, WHICH RECORDS AUDIO AND VIDEO.

The house is big and roomy for a large group. We had 11 people staying, ages 12 - 75 and everyone had room to spread out. It is nice that there are so many bedrooms with attached bathrooms for privacy. We especially enjoyed the living room with adjoining dining room so that we all could be in the same room even when doing separate things.
The house is in the Galena Territory which has a nice club house offering basketball, swimming and a game room. There are 6 passes available to visitors.
This was our second stay at this property. Unfortunately, many of the repairs needed that we noticed last year were still present this year. There are unpainted repair patches on the walls in various rooms, the fireplace cover was off, several light bulbs out, broken shelves in the fridge, both keurig machines didn't work, spots on the carpet and the whole place could use a paint job. We couldn't find a shovel when it snowed and had to improvise with dust pans to clear the walkway. It took over 36 hours for the complex to plow. The checkout list of things to do is reasonable however having to take the garbage to the dump is kind of a pain especially at this nightly rate.
Overall this home works well for a large group. With a bit of TLC this home could be really nice. The screened in porch, firepit and hot tub look like they would be fun in the summertime.

A rainy weekend didn’t stop us from having a great time here. The kitchen had everything we needed as stated in the description. Our family of 8 adults was able to all eat and play games at the dining room table. We spent lots of time in the game room playing pool and foosball! We even used the hot tub in the rain! Everyone loved having their own bathroom with their bedroom. The owners were very responsive to all of our concerns.

We attended a grape stomping fest at Massbach Winery. Perfect location between winery & downtown Galena. Beautiful home with a bathroom for each bedroom. Kitchen was good and big dining table to fit our group. Gas grill was great. Fire pit was awesome. Would recommend!

The grounds of the house are gorgeous and the fire pit was awesome. The host was responsive and easy to talk to. A few updates need to be done and when talking to the host, they said they are addressing them and they were very kind. Very easy access to the owners club. Wonderful time of year to stay!

A great property. The home is spacious and very clean. We like to grill and cook and appreciated the large gas grill and well stocked kitchenware. Everyone was comfortable in the large kitchen, dining and living room...and then retreating to their own bed and bath at the end of a fun day. The large lawn and fire pit were great for young and old alike. Many amenities of the Galena Territory are within a quick drive.

We had such a great time staying at this house. The setup was perfect for 4 couples. Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom which worked out great. Pete and Laura were awesome to work with and very accomodating. Would for sure stay here again. Beautiful home in a beautiful location. Thank you!

The Galena Getaway house was a great base for our family get together. We especially liked the proximity to the Territory Club and loved using the pool. The layout of the bedrooms was great and everyone enjoyed their privacy and own bathroom. Would definitely choose this home again!

The house was perfect for our family get away. It was very nice to have a screen porch because the bugs outside were plentiful. It was always great to have a bathroom for every bedroom. The owners were prompt with their response when we had a question. It was nice to be so close to the pool for trips back and forth.

We thoroughly enjoyed this lovely and spacious home that has a perfect, well-decorated three season room and a clean deck with comfy furniture! Hot tub and huge fire pit were bonuses as well. Kitchen is stocked. Each room having its own bathroom was awesome! House has an open layout and is full of natural light!

Our group consisted of 5 couples, and each couple having its own private bedroom and bathroom was so nice! The property and views were spectacular. We spent lots of time on the deck or screened in porch. We ate all our meals but one at the house and there were plenty of dishes and cookware/bakeware to accommodate our group. Lots of nice extra touches, like automatic nightlights placed all around the house, coffee and creamer provided (both drip and keurig), little wall hung fireplace heaters in the downstairs bedrooms, a complimentary bottle of wine, etc. The hosts were very responsive, kind, and easy to work with. The kitchen perhaps lacked enough counter space for more than 2-3 people working in there at a time (an island or bigger table would have helped), but it didn’t prevent us from preparing some great meals. All in all, a most wonderful weekend, and we’re already planning next year!

Perfect for our family with Parents in there 80s and most of us in our 60s. My parents stayed in the master bedroom on the main floor. Two couples were in the basement bedrooms and two other couples were in the upstairs bedrooms. I loved that each bedroom had there own private bathroom. The fire pit outside was wonderful. We would stay there again.

This is our second time staying at The Galena Getaway. We stayed 5 years ago. We loved it then and were very happy to find it just as we remembered it - wonderful! But even better as the hosts have updated furniture and there were many nice little touches like coffee creamer in the refrigerator! We had our 16-month old grandson and a pack and play and highchair were available for our use. So nice to have those! Enough room for all of us to spread out and enjoy private time but also a great room for gathering. Thanks again to the hosts who were always prompt with responses and made our family trip from Washington state back to my home town a memorable one.

The house had a lot of room for large family to spread out. Location is great to use the pool. Men enjoyed golfing. Has a great screened in porch. We appreciated the firewood to have a fire. We would stay again!

We had 11 family members including an infant. There were 5 bedrooms, 2 kings and 3 queens, each with their own bath and shower. Kitchen and living area were large with vaulted ceiling and big screen TV. 2 porches off of the kitchen/ living area. 1 screened in and the other open air. High light is the large burn pit surrounded by huge boulders for seating of 15+. There were a number of issues, none that were serious enough for immediate attention, and the owner was quite reachable via text and willing to call out service people, but we declined and just dealt with the minor problem which by now I'm sure has been resolved. Water was leaking from the bottom of the frig.
If I were the owner, the first thing I would do is paint and clean up the front door and the entry way. That's the first thing you see when you get there and it's not impressive! TV cabling was all disconnected. No spatula for the nice grill. Inoperable ceiling fan in br. Inoperable DVD player in living room. Carpets needed cleaning many spots everywhere. Broken furniture on outside deck. Some beds very hard if you like that. Most walls and corners chipped and marred, all walls inside need paint. So the inside and amenities inside show a lot of wear. We all did fine and had a great family time, but if this were mine, I'd do a deap cleaning including carpets, and paint inside halls and walls before I'd rent it again. Hey nice place for sure, lots of smart tvs and games, pool table, fooz ball, hot tub etc. But in my honest opinion it needs some owner attending and attention. Don't forget the spatula for the nice grill!

Wonderful home for a large group!
This house was perfect for 10 of us with its 5 bedrooms. All the bedrooms were a good size and there was plenty of space to relax. There were also plenty of dishes to handle a large group.

Spacious & Away
We had a great weekend over the 4th in this spacious house with screened in porch, fire pit, access to swimming, fishing, golf and time in Galena! The kitchen was roomy and very well stocked!! We had one problem but when we got a hold of owner it was taken care of best as possible.

Perfect for a large group
Was an excellent place to meet up with family and friends for a long weekend of skiing! The house must have been built with hosting in mind. Large living room, dining room, kitchen, and private bathrooms attached to each room was all very well thought out. About a 25 minute scenic drive to Chestnut was nice. Only criticism I could give is it could use some general maintenance. Paint touch up, light bulbs replaced and other little things like that, but not enough to distract from an awesome weekend. Hopefully we’ll make this trip annually and can come back!

Perfect Winter Getaway
Great cozy home that is perfect for a winter getaway. The home has very comfortable bedding and appointed with all of your kitchen needs! Great main space for our group to gather! The kids could go sledding out the back door, skiing and waterpark about 40 minutes away, and a close drive to downtown Galena.
