Very good service, and excellent meals in the dining-room. A lovely suite.
We found the pianist disappointing - loud, unsubtle and intrusive both in the dining-room and our suite. Especially odd when a significant proportion of the guests were visiting Glyndebourne, so were likely to have high musical standards.

the receptionist was a little unprofessional - she made some comments about another guest, and was a bit off-hand at one point. Several of the waiters were excellent and really friendly, helpful and professional - one male waiter was a bit off-hand. Otherwise really good.

This is a beautiful hotel in a historic building. We loved the elegant style of the place and the very pleasant staff. The warm welcome from the night porter on our late arrival was particularly appreciated. We also liked the tea and coffee station in the room with a decent sized teapot and a good selection of teas. Breakfast was served in a lovely room with pleasant views onto the grounds.
We found the pillows uncomfortable (one was too hard and the other better but rustled a lot).
I was also disappointed by the choice of bread at breakfast: sliced loaf from the supermarket. Given that there is no shortage of artisan bakeries in the area, I would have expected better quality bread from such an establishment.
We also asked three times for our bathroom sink to be unblocked (very slow drainage) but it was never done.
