We loved how rustic and rural it was even being so close to the centre of Lamai. The hotel has many unique wooden villas set out randomly over the property. Each walk way is an adventure. Positive quotes are painted everywhere. It has a hippy vibe. This isn't luxury but we didn't want that. We had a 2 bedroom villa. AC was good enough. There's a few little bugs around the place (just to warn you) but what do you expect living in the jungle?! The views from the hotel are amazing!! This hotel is not pretending to be 5 star. It offers you an authentic Thai style holiday. We live in Dubai and we loved this hotel. But please be prepared. It's very green. Animals live there. Bugs live there. It's the same all over Thailand. We'd use this hotel again. Olive on reception will also help with anything you need. I stayed with 6 year old and a 10 year old boys, if you have small babies and buggies it would be a bit more difficult with the steep steps but not impossible. My kids loved the slide from the upper pool to the lower! We had a great time. Thank you! The food is also good here. It's just a few minutes walk to the beginning of the main street in Lamai and a couple of minutes walk to the beach.
The things you would moan about we already were prepared for. It is rustic. It is designed to be old school and authentic. You will see the odd bug in Thailand. The beds weren't 5 star luxury. The decor is more 1960 then 2023 but we wanted it. My wife said this is the happiest hotel in Thailand.

Great location, close to the main street with many bars and shops, but resort itself is very quiet place (or our apartment really was). Helpful and nice staff. Rich breakfast, everyone can choose. Very tasty meals in restaurant at evening. Rooms were clean and regulary maintained.
Restaurant is a little bit expensiver than restaurants in the streets, but the cook makes his work really great.

location was good everything else was poor
bathroom way below what a European traveler would expect. Poor fitting windows allow bugs and lizards into your room.

The resort is SUCH a beautiful and cool place. We felt like living in a huge art gallery. No matter where you look. You see creativity and art everywhere. The kids also enjoyed it. There are many funny and cute figures around, a fish pond, a fun pool etc. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the amount of "wildlife" in our livingroom. There are no screens on the windows and you are surrounded by beautiful nature so... yeah... we had a few guests. 😀 But the appartment was kept really clean and nice in general. We would love to come again one day. All the best to the kind owner and staff!

The sea view from the balcony was nice .
If you like steps this place will suit you , very shabby room and very dated and dirty , the pictures on your site was not what we seen or got , 100% not recommended. The shower head was 4ft high so had to bend down to use it ,

We stayed in a family bungalow, very spacious. A great place for families with or without kids, there is a nice outdoor swiming pool and amazing views all around the resort. Definitely a must place to stay when in Lamai!
Nothing, we loved staying at Varinda!

We have chosen Varinda as the place for our New Year holidays together with friends. We liked that hotel had a great view on the see and trees around (it was a breakfast place we visited everyday) - wonderful option to start your day!
The best choice for breakfast were pancakes with banana or fruits / fried rice/ omelet. Guests are served with freshly brewed coffee - and you can also have a refill! The coffee was very tasteful.
The place looks like a jungle itself - we had a great terrace with table and chairs near the trees and bushes - the best for birdwatching) And there are a lot of birds!
The hotel is quite close to the beach - (1) you are going down from the hill by stairs (2) then a bit by the road (3) on the right up the hill (4) once more down the hill but without stairs (5) just straight ahead to the beach. The road took 10-15 minutes, mostly because you should be careful on the road and aware of the bikes around you.
We loved to stay at "No stress" café near the beach - so you can have sunbeds and umbrella for free (but you should order a drink or some food). The kitchen is great - our favorites were - tuna tar-tar/ green curry/ fried rice with chicken/ coconut/ and mango shake.
We were travelling with PS5 and were happy to find great TV to play games. Not every bungalow has a modern TV - our friends were living with the "old-fashioned" one.
Varinda has a great vibe to relax and enjoy your life) there are a lot of phrases and colorful items, you can definitely spend days looking at them together with lotuses and flowers.
We were not prepared for the ants and other insects at first. But it gets better after we bought a remedy for ants (we used them in the bathroom) and anti-mosquito spray (highly recommended to use all day). Don`t forget to buy Tiger balm (you can find it in every shop, in 7/11, etc.) to decrease the itching after mosquito bites.
Take a look at your bungalow`s bathroom - we were ok, but it will not work for the families with children (and maybe for less spartan couples :). The bathroom was quite simple - a shower without curtain, little wall and toilet on the right, sink with mirror on the left side.
Also be ready that room clean-up is quite light - mostly to get rid of sand from the beach and toilet paper in the basket.
The towels are not changed in 2-3 days, the hotel staff changed them only after we insist. Towels cannot get dry very quick (due to high humidity), so we used outdoor dryer (if you cannot find it in the bungalow, just ask the staff for it).
Our bungalow was in the center of the main road in the hotel, so we heard sounds of cars and bikes all day long (also there was a big space for parking under the bungalow). The doors are not soundproof - but equipped with the lockers.
We have a couple of weeks working from the hotel - the WI-FI was not good enough, so we switched to the sim-card internet.

The owners were the nicest people so attentive! The food was incredible I would highly recommend eating here!
The room smelt very mouldy and one of the cupboards was not usable due to the mould inside it. we didn’t want our clothes to smell.

Breakfast was amazing! Starting the day with an amazing view and great food quality!
The WiFi was a bit slow and TV wasn’t tuned.

the property has a lot of potential, is quirky and full of details, has a great view to the sea. but unfortunately probably due to recently reopening after covid a few things weren’t properly looked after. the staff is great though and the breakfast is good and varied.
the room wasn’t properly ventilated for our arrival and had a funny smell that we controlled with citronella incense (something easy that the owner should have thought about), the room looked quite old, the door and some windows leave gaps that make you feel uncomfortable with the thought of bugs getting inside, we did also have a dead cockroach just outside the room (again one of those things that should have been spotted before our arrival), the room lock was didn’t work properly and the air con was old and worked more as a fan than an air con.

Beatiful colorful resort. You feel like in the middle of a jungle. Staff were very kind and helpful.
Dinner wasn't anything special. I would recommend to go for a dinner somewhere else but otherwise everything was perfect.

A one-off place to stay, everything about this family run resort has been carefully thought about and fully of love and character. it really is a special place! We stayed in a family house which was spacious and had a lovely balcony with commanding views across Lamai!
Nothing it was perfect!

The owner was super nice and helpful.
Plenty of seats all over the resort with lovely views.
food is good.
The room was little bit aged but was totally fine for us.
The resort is on a hill, so expect lots of stairs. especially the way to the beach or walking street.

Varinda Resort ist one of the most beautiful locations we‘ve seen here in Thailand. From driveway to reception and pool area to the bungalows themselves - every little corner is designed with so much love :)
The owners/staff are so friendly, we felt very welcome! We got help with any questions we had and could also rent a Scooter at 200THB/day at the reception.
The Restaurant offers a mix of Thai and international food at good prices. We mostly had Thai Food and it was great!
All in all, we‘d surely recommend to stay there even to just hang around there and enjoy the positive vibes!:)

The place is a real heaven. There are plenty of very positive messages written everywhere which make you think about life and yourself. This was very energizing! Then the hotel was well located at the end of the Lamai beach road and next to it there is the main road: easy to catch a cab or a tuk-tuk. The fact that the hotel is on top of the hill was good for our fitness: there is a little pathway with several stairs but it was not too hard, even for our 5 years old kid (family of 3 kids, aged 12, 10 and 5) but I can imagine for families with baby it can be more difficult.
The hotel facilities are correct for this type of category. But I must say that the swimming pool with the slide was just awesome for our kids and the view on the whole Lamai was amazing.
The staff was very welcoming and nice to talk with. We had a problem with our air conditioning in our room and they could not manage to fix it but they offered us to change the room for an upgraded one. I was a little bit sick for 2 days and the kept asking for news. We had a great time at this hotel and I can only recommend anyone that would like to have a non-conventional hotel...pictures on Booking are talking for themselves.
Thanks for the Varinda staff for making this hotel so nice and so special, this is a great and amazing work!
Thanks also for being so accessible. We will probably come back next time we're going to Lamai. Take care!
Nothing special. Maybe the beds were rather hard and the food quantity served in their restaurant was too little and relatively expensive... but that's it.
