The place is brand new and super clean. Great location close to the Nara station for when you come from Kyoto and leave to Osaka (direct connections to both cities.) There is a lovely common area, a kitchen to use, hot water and all you really need. Beds are super comfy, lockers and towels are provided too, also luggage storage is available. It really has everything one needs in a hostel. All in all a positive experience.
Walking distance to the deer park/forest area, I always walked everywhere and never needed to take a bus within Nara.
I read about people complaining about small bathrooms but honestly, I found them cute and they had warm water, shower amenities and all. It is not as a big problem as people make it in the reviews, so do not let this discourage you from booking this place :)

The price was very reasonable for my length of stay. While I could not see myself using the Deer Hostel for longer than a few days, I had absolutely no issue with using it for an overnight stay in Nara.
The bathrooms are very small. I appreciate that the nature of the hostel makes space a premium, but the shower facilities were almost uncomfortable for a person of my stature to use.

I like the location of the property, it is just a walking distance to the Nara Park.

Clean beds, nice pillows, hooks above bed, clean bathrooms, nice design and decoration and kitchen
Guests are nice but very annoying. The couple running it should hire help if they are stressed out with too many guests….
