The double room (3) was a good size and spotlessly clean. Great value for money.
Super super soft bed which - too soft for my liking one side was slightly less soft than the other so I slept on that side. The traffic noise from the main road a short distance away but it didn't keep me awake as it was quiet all night. Beware there isn't a lift so heavy bags have to be dragged up the stairs.

Breakfast was optional, choice was adequate and cooked well
A single person's lift is needed, these narrow lifts do not take up a lot of floor space. 25 stairs for my wife who suffers from knee wear and tear was extremely painful.

It was good value for money. The accommodation side felt a bit like staying in a youth hostel. My single room was tastefully decorated and simple but the shared areas of this big old hotel felt worn.
A hotel of two halves as the high dining restaurant was very modern and offered to host events.
As above, accommodation needs an update. Didn’t like letting myself in, would have preferred someone on reception all evening.
Thought a ‘retreat’ in countryside would be quiet but could hear traffic all night on busy A road.
Staff in restaurant a bit abrasive. Had asked bar staff earlier if I could come down for a starter, they’d said yes. I tried to phone restaurant to book this in but got answer phone. Lady in charge of restaurant said I needed a booking - and not being able to get through showed they were busy. Didn’t look busy and I was staying at hotel. They begrudgingly allowed me to sit in bar.
