The property was clean and secure. The bed was very comfortable and it was spacious. The balcony windows added light and the doors could be opened for fresh air. We found food at the nearby markets to cook our own breakfast in the room. The host sent us a lot of information about restaurants and facilities nearby. They were timely getting our check-in information to us.
We welcome the personal touch of a live person at the property but this was totally handled remotely. They did do a good job of sending info and being available for questions.

The apartment is in a beautiful old building. It looks plain from the outside but on opening the door you are greeted with an amazing interior courtyard.
The apartment is located in the heart of the old town and it's only a a minute's walk to Via Maqueda and Via Roma, and the Ballaro district (lively and welcoming). There is a Lidl just round the corner for supplies.
We were on the top floor and had a large balcony looking out towards Catello Utveggio and the hills beyond.
The air conditioning was fantastic and coped well with the 35 C outside temperatures.
The well stocked coffee machine was very welcome and the team were quick to restock when we asked.
The kitchen was basic but functional with a 2 ring electric hob, kettle, toaster, and microwave. We didn't cook because, well, Palermo! .
There was also a hairdryer and an iron.
The mezzanine bedroom and the vaulted ceiling made the apparent seem spacious and classy.
We had been warned about crime on Palermo but we saw none and felt safe at all times (except when crossing the road lol).
A bread knife would have been useful.

Spacious room, easy checkin
Unfortunately we had to leave after 2 out of 4 nights as the smell coming from the bathroom had become unbearable. They had clearly tried to cover it up before we arrived because there was a strong mix of cleaning detergent and perfume in air when we got in. It was very difficult to reach the host so when he stopped responding we contacted Booking. We also couldn’t properly lock the door which didn’t feel very secure.
