Liberty Pines is a spacious 5-bedroom, 4-bath lakefront log cabin located within 10 minutes of downtown Moneta, 15 minutes from Bridgewater Plaza and 45 minutes from both Roanoke and Lynchburg. Nestled on a quiet waterfront cove and surrounded by 32 scenic acres, Liberty Pines is a rare private jewel at Smith Mountain Lake! The great room has three power recline couches, TV & wood burning fireplace (available October-April). Spacious, well-equipped kitchen with a table that seats eight; mud room; and laundry room. Formal living room, equipped with a TV and pull-out sofa bed. Great room offers direct access to the covered porch with ample outdoor furniture overlooks the peaceful estate and access to the swim-spa, which seats 8. All bedrooms & bathrooms are located on the main level - The stunning Liberty Suite boasts a king-size bed, wet bar, mini frig/microwave, sitting area, dressing room with a desk, and a master bath with a jacuzzi tub and double shower. The Freedom Room also has a king bed and private bath with tub/shower combo. The Independence Room has a queen bed and private bath with tub/shower combo. We had a wonderful stay at Liberty Pines. The house is expansive, with more than enough room for our group to spread out. The partially finished basement was lots of fun in the evenings, with pool and ping pong. It didn’t bother us, but the sound from the basement does carry extremely well up to the bedrooms above. The kitchen was well equipped and the house was sparkling clean.
Only cons were terrible cell service, but we were warned about that. A wifi booster should definitely be added to this house. We also would have enjoyed having some floats available to use, and I was a little surprised there weren’t any. The water is deep off the dock but fairly still since it’s on a little inlet, so not quite as sparkling and clear as other locations we have stayed on the lake.
We would be glad to return to this house!

House was well appointed and beds as described. We had plenty of room to spread out, enjoy each other and the lake. The kitchen had extensive stock of appliances and dishware. The lake is a short walk from the house. Folks with ltd mobility might want a different location or a golf cart.
We did have a problem with the dishwasher throughout our stay. The property manager attempted to rectify but unfortunately we were without the dishwasher for the entirety of the week. With a house full of folks, it was an unexpected glitch. The homeowner helped us to work with property manager to resolve.

Liberty Pines is an outstanding place to stay with a family on Smith Mountain Lake. LE Hurlbut, the property owner, is superb! RSI Rentals was very easy to work with, professional and responsive. The house has all you need and is very comfortable and welcoming. It is conveniently located about a 7-8 minute drive to the grocery store. Located on 32 acres gave us privacy and plenty of room to have fun. It is located at the end of an arm of the lake which means swimming from the dock was easy with no concern of boat traffic…especially with younger children. Our family had a fantastic week and a big part of that was staying at Liberty Pines.

Great house overall. We’ve stayed at a number of places and Liberty Pines was the nicest yet. The kitchen was very well equipped. Each bedroom was roomy, clean, and well appointed. Plenty of seating areas both inside and out. Pool table, ping pong, Wii, Xbox, Pictionary white board, frisbee golf, corn hole, kayak, peddle boat, fishing from the dock, s’more’s at the fire pit, table games, books, movies, …swim spa. Lots of towels and toiletries, close to food shopping, wineries, boat rentals. Friendly host. My family had a great time and hopes to return.

The property was even more beautiful than advertised. They decorated for Christmas, which was a lovely surprise! We had an amazing time cooking big family meals with the most well-stocked kitchen we have ever had on a vacation! We enjoyed walks around the property, movies and bonfires every night, and spent time in the enormous, fabulous hot tub. We loved Liberty Pines.

We resumed our Friendsgivong tradition this year and I'm so glad we chose this cabin! The house is beautiful but rustic, very clean, and the beds were comfortable. The only challenge was figuring out the thermostat, but once we did the temperature was fine. The property is beautiful as well, even in late November. The hot tub was wonderful, and for the kids too young to use it there is a large jetted tub inside. This was absolutely perfect for our group, very kid friendly. Thank you!

Chose this place as a centralized place to meet family from PA, GA, and Virginia Beach. The place was enormous! Much bigger than it looks in pictures. Everything we needed was there, from toiletries to picnic supplies. Really enjoyed the giant hot tub, the paddle boats, the firepit and the Alexa for some tunes during our stay.

It was an amazing property and in an excellent location. The property was very big and had lot of space in the front and backyards. It was perfect cabin for our friends and families for the weekend.
Hot tub was so big and awesome, we all had a great time in the Hot Tub. We spent good time near the fire pit as well.
Overall, we all enjoyed the stay at Liberty Pines and would definitely come back to stay again.
Couple of things to be noticed are, We had few challenges with WiFi connectivity and the Fire on the Grill was very low on first day, thought was out of propane and change the propane but still was the same. Surprisingly next day it was working fine.

The House was much nicer than it was depicted in the pictures! I didn't really understand how many bedrooms there were and how nice the patio was. The hot tub was also large.
We also enjoyed the seclusion of the house, despite the fact it was close to the grocery store, etc.
My only complaint is that the basement was unusable because of the mold smell. They also use way to much chlorine in the hot tub which caused people's eyes to burn.

Liberty Pines fit our family needs. The house was spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen we have ever been to. There were loads of towels and the beds were very comfortable after a long day on the water. The basement was a big hit with the older kids and adults. Hot tub was incredible. Can't say enough about this property. We had a lot of family come and stay at other homes in area but Liberty Pines was the general gathering place and it just worked out beautifully. Would definately recommend.

Liberty Pines was the perfect location for our family from three different states (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Georgia) to meet, relax, and spend time together. The home accommodated us well, and we truly enjoyed our stay.

This house was nicely decorated and provided a secluded retreat just a short walk away from the dock and lake access. We rented a pontoon boat and located it at the dock for a week of lake fun. The kitchen was spectacularly outfitted with every applicance you could want - loads of dishes, glassware and serving pieces. Wash/dryer were like new. Bathrooms had loads of towels, lotions, shampoo, etc. Beds were comfortable. The only downside was the non-existent Wifi. We let the rental company know a day or so into our week but we never had Wifi. Received the impression that the ISP was not very good and was told that the equipment at the house was old. Cellular coverage wasn't good either which would have been helpful with no Wifi. Have rented other homes at SML without the Wifi issue so maybe this will be resolved.

Pros:
1) The property is gorgeous property. The house itself is breathtaking with high quality architectural details, lots of space throughout, and a warm welcoming feel. The surrounding land is perfectly peaceful. The massive hot tub was great as was the proximity to the lake and the provided watercraft.
2) Relative to other vacation rentals, the kitchen was stocked exceptionally well. (There was also a whole house water filtration system.)
3) Kid friendly
4) Clear instructions from the owners and attention to details (like providing flashlights in case the solar lights didn't charge that day)
5) There was a lot of leisure equipment provided (karaoke, pool table, yard games, ping pong, kayak, paddle boat, DVD, a few board games). We didn't have time to use much of it, but I was still impressed.
Cons:
1) I am sensitive to artificial fragrance, and the linens, beds, and even some of the couches smelled strongly of artificial fragrance (like scented detergent and febreeze). I ended up having to sleep on the floor because my head ached from the smell.
2) I had trouble with GPS not bringing me right to the house given its address, but later discovered entering the address directly across the street worked perfectly. The roads leading to the property coming from the south were extremely rural and challenging for me also. (Again, I discovered a better route for me after the fact.)
3) There weren't instructions for the DVD player, and we weren't able to get it to work.

This house was perfect for our friends getaway. The house was well stocked with everything we needed in kitchen and the little conveniences thoughout the house showed the care that went into ensuring a high quality stay. Only thing missing was firewood for the fire pit!

Liberty Pines was the perfect spot for me and a few of my friends to ring in the new year. With cathedral ceilings and a roomy living room and kitchen, it was an amazing experience for all. Our group has already began discussions for the summer where we can take a little more advantage of the lake (though a few of us did this go around :) ) Thank you to our host for the space (and who let us burrow an axe to split logs, much appreciated) and to the cleaning crew for sanitizing everything. Everybody in our group took a PCR test and tested negative before arriving.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home. My husband and I moved to Pennsylvania last year for a job opportunity from Georgia and haven't been able to see our family due to covid! My father-in-law found this gem of a house to meet in the middle. We reached out to the home owner to rent for the holidays and she was so understanding! She allowed us to book the home on short notice with our two goldendoodles (we are hesitant to board them due to covid)! The home was beautifully decorated for Christmas and met all our needs. The home was spacious and had many perks. We walked the trails and had the extra benefit of playing pool and ping pong in the basement. The location was lovely and the walk to the lake was a beautiful jaunt. I couldn't recommend a better place to enjoy family time. It was truly a hallmark experience for a home away from home Christmas. Thanks again for the wonderful experience.
