The best hostel I’ve stayed at!
Tierra Alta is, without a doubt, the best hostel with dormitory-style accommodation I have ever stayed in. The location is excellent — just a 5-minute walk from the town centre, which makes it very convenient for exploring San Cristóbal.
The staff are incredibly kind, welcoming and always available to help. The cleanliness is impeccable, and I would especially like to highlight the bathrooms and showers, which were spotless and very well maintained.
The hostel itself is a beautiful old house that has been lovingly restored with great taste. I particularly loved the way they have preserved its character while filling the spaces with beautiful plants, creating a very welcoming and peaceful atmosphere.
But what really made my stay special was the kindness and care of the staff. I missed my bus from Juchitán to San Cristóbal and had to wait for the next one, which meant I wouldn’t arrive until very late at night. I called the hostel to let them know, and they were incredibly understanding and kept checking on me until I finally arrived at almost 2 a.m.
A very special thank you to José, who stayed attentive and made sure everything was okay until I arrived. That level of care and hospitality is something I truly appreciated.
I highly recommend Tierra Alta. A beautiful place, wonderful staff and exceptional hospitality. I would definitely stay here again! ❤️

Heel fijne locatie en heel vriendelijk personeel. Het was ook erg schoon en rustig.
We hadden een privé kamer met tweepersoonsbed, dat was aan de kleine kant.

Het hostel heeft goede faciliteiten. Je kunt je was doen, fietsen huren, tours boeken (wel even dubbelchecken welke taal de gids spreekt) en er is een goed uitgeruste keuken. Verder heeft het een relaxte sfeer, iedereen houdt zich aan de tijd dat je stil moet zijn.
