Location was remote and peaceful - nobody to bother you. Villa was new and clean and had everything you need. The view was incredible from the villa - sunrise above the ocean one side whilst the moon set behind the hills on the other. We saw the aurora borealis from the villa on 3 out of 5 nights whilst enjoying the hot tub which was perfect... no need to go searching! The hot tub and sauna were a real plus in winter... a point of note though, the hot tub was scolding hot for kids when the cover was initially removed so give it time for the temperature to equalize - perfect after 30mins. And, location is good for visiting various attractions on the Golden Circle -Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss Waterfall are all within a 30-40min drive from the villa, and Selfoss is 20mins with all the necessary shops etc. you need. We were 4 adults and 4 kids.
Getting through the gate initially (gate keys were inside the house once in) required you to call up a provided number and then they let you through into the private land / estate where the house is. It was a slight faff dealing with the management company's call centre which didn't instill confidence when speaking with them, but it worked nevertheless. A couple of improvements but certainly these didn't detract from the stay: 1. I would suggest the provision of robes in winter to get between the house and the hot tub. 2. Highly recommended putting non-slip grips on the stairs into the hot tub. The kids and even some adults had multiple falls due to the ice. 3. The annex bedroom needs its own shower - oddly there is a toilet but no shower. It required the guests staying there having to get dressed in coats etc. to come to the main house to shower.
