Located about an 8 minute walk from the bus lines and trolly station, it was quite simple to get where I needed to go, and since it's not directly in the center of Little Italy, it's easy to escape the crowds that form in the evening. It felt like I had my own little hidden apartment in San Diego.
I stayed an entire week in a room with a shared bathroom, and it was very clean and easy to manage the space. In total I only had to use one of the other shared restrooms once, and never had a queue for the shower either. All the rooms and the shared restrooms use keypads, so it was very easy to get in and out without having to remember to carry a card key, so convenient!
There were relatively minor issues with the door's battery and towel availability and the staff was able to assist both onsite and remotely with little issue and the problems were resolved quickly.
I also feel I have to mention that it was extremely hot in San Diego during my stay and the hotels AC system was AMAZING! I looked forward to returning every time I left just to get that blast of cool refreshing air when I opened the front door. The rooms also have individual AC units and you can fully control them, which made the room especially comfortable.
If you're a solo traveler and want an affordable accommodation to use for exploring San Diego, I would highly recommend the Hotel Zindel.
Sometimes the freeway and airplanes were a bit loud, but they provided earplugs, which were nice but I never had to use.

Location, room comfort.
Check in process is a bit annoying but ok, walls are thin, unfortunately we had a very noisy person next to us, so I didn’t sleep very well the whole time.

Lovely hotel, nicely decorated & clean, only a suspicious mark on the bathroom wall that'd been missed, or would have had full points there
Parking. Not a place to go if you are driving as expensive to park or else very challenging to park free

Location
You can hear everything coming from the rooms next door. The air conditioner was broken, there was only one employee working on the property after 4 pm only . The housekeeper never said “hi,” “good morning,” or “how are you?” She would walk right past guests as if they didn’t exist, I did not feel welcome in this place .
