Maria is a sweetheart and ensured my stay was wonderful. The infinity salt water pool is a joy to swim in, grounds are lovely, property is classy and interior design exquisite. Prob the most luxurious place to stay on Terceira, yet the price is most reasonable. I suggest booking directly with Maria at geral at quintadamerces dot com. For those of us non native Portuguese speakers, Maria will happily converse with you in English. She and her late husband (2016) lovingly restored what was essentially a ruin 18 years ago. Asked to see the before and after photos. Her collection of beautiful objects from her extensive world travels is a delight. Check out her collection of teapots. If you enjoy staying at a place with style and history, Maria’s home is your address.

This hotel is a renovated 16th or 17th century farmhouse and is run by a very adorable couple. We arrived somewhat late and had to leave earlyish the next morning but enjoyed our time here even though we did not get a chance to use the tennis court, game room, snooker room, pool, etc. It is just a short drive into Angra which is convenient. Breakfast was good but not great.

A really special place, right across from the ocean waves. The hotel is a beautifully restored 17th c house at the front and the hotel rooms along the back. The rooms are simple but well-furnished. The grounds include many green spaces and a lovely salt water infinity pool that overlooks the ocean. I particularly enjoyed the common rooms decorated with special ceramics and lovely comfortable furniture. A great place to read, work or relax, especially at cocktail hour when the self-serve bar cart means you can sit on the terrace with a glass and enjoy the sound of the waves. The owner is on site and is gracious and helpful with advice and recommendations. Breakfast includes freshly prepared eggs and bacon--crispy like in the USA.
Just note that although it is walkable along the road to town, the roads are narrow, and accommodating pedestrians is not the major objective.
