The historic building is large with spacious rooms and a lovely outdoor courtyard. The shared bathrooms are recently renovated and there was no waiting. The chef kindly allowed me to make a pour over coffee very early.
My phone battery died and I arrived after 9 pm. No one was there to let me in and I couldn’t access the text with the entry code. A neighbor let me use her electric outlet to charge my phone. The bathrooms needed more careful cleaning - dust and little hairs were on the corners of countertops and floors.

市の中心部でありながら静かで落ち着いたロケーションがよかったです。禅センターということで価値観を共有できる場所に宿泊でき、安心できました。清潔感がありました。
到着した際に、玄関が閉まっており、コールを押しても応答なく、対応してもらえなかったのが不安で残念でした。幸い玄関先にいた宿泊者と思われる方が中の人を探してくれ、スタッフかゲストか不明ですが、キーの受け渡しや施設の説明をしてくれました。

Our stay at the San Francisco Zen Center was wonderful. The room was spacious and exactly as shown in the photos. The bathrooms were very clean, and the facilities were extremely comfortable and secure.
The Zen Center has an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. All the practitioners and teachers were very welcoming and attentive. We had the opportunity to join a breakfast, which was delicious.
We were invited on several occasions to participate in the practices, but there was never any pressure or obligation. The surrounding neighborhood felt very safe and pleasant, and it was conveniently located near the Painted Ladies and Patricia's Green in Hayes Valley.
It was a truly worthwhile experience, and we would love to come back.
Everything was amazing, nothing to complain about.

The location was perfect.
The bed could have been more comfortable. I could feel the springs in the mattress. Otherwise I was very happy with my room and my experience.
