New listing, new inside
We just finished a complete remodel of the townhome, top to bottom, and this is its first season on the market. Everything in the photos is what you walk into: the kitchen with its live-edge counter, induction cooktop and wall oven, the heated tile floor, the gas fireplace, the three full bathrooms, the mud room with its slatwall and racks, and every bed. The listing is new, so the reviews are just getting started, and you would be among the first to stay.
The walk
Canyon Lodge is a few minutes walk from the front door.
The mud room
You come in at ground level to a room built for gear: slatwall on both sides with racks for skis and boards, hooks for jackets and helmets, a bench to sit down and pull boots off, and a tile floor.
The reading nook
Halfway up from the entry there is a landing with a loveseat, a sheepskin rug, a shelf of books, and a window. It is the quiet seat in the house, and the spot for whoever is up first with a cup of coffee.
The kitchen
The kitchen opens straight into the living room, so nobody cooks alone. Induction cooktop, stainless wall oven and vent hood, dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, deep sink, open wood shelving. The counter is a live-edge slab set on a river-rock base with stools pulled up to it, a second long counter runs under the windows with more seating, and the dining table seats the group on benches. The tile floor is heated, which you notice on the first cold morning.
The living room
The main living area is open and tall - vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and seating for the whole group. A flatscreen smart TV hangs above a river-rock gas fireplace, and that is where everyone lands after a long day on the mountain.
The bedrooms
Both bedrooms are downstairs, and both are en suite: a king bed, a full bathroom of its own, a rug underfoot, smart TV’s and beams overhead. One has a desk, if a workday follows you up here.
The loft and the deck
The loft sits open above the main floor under a wood-plank ceiling, with a railing that looks down over the living room. It holds a bunk bed with a full on the bottom and a twin on top, plus a twin trundle, so it sleeps four in a room that is part of the house. The third full bathroom is on the landing right below it. A door opens onto the private deck, with view of the mountain and Canyon Lodge.
Two kings, one full, three twins. Every bed is a real bed.
Winter
Canyon Lodge is the closest lodge to the townhome. Ski and ride from there and walk back to your own door at the end of the day.
Canyon Lodge and the Village
If you have not skied Mammoth before: Canyon Lodge is one of the base lodges at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, and the closest one to the townhome. Several chairlifts load from there, and inside you will find a ski and snowboard rental shop, lift ticket sales, ski school for toddlers, beginners, and every level above, a cafeteria and coffee bar, and both an indoor and an outdoor bar.
In winter the Village Gondola runs between Canyon Lodge and the Village, where the restaurants and shops are, so dinner in town is a ride over and a ride back with the car still parked. Mammoth Mountain also runs a free shuttle through the neighborhood.
Summer
Trails, bike routes, fishing, hiking and the lakes are close by, the pool and spas are open, and the deck holds the evening light.
