Our room at Arbutus Inn was clean, secure and quiet. It was well located for easy access to the wharf and downtown areas. The hotel is great value for money and has several food options within easy walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful. Laundry nearby.
This isn't about the hotel itself, just a heads up for people with young children or if you are coming from a rural area and don't experience this in your day to day life. We witnessed a fair bit of drug related behaviour and an overdose in the immediate block surrounding the hotel while walking to breakfast and taking our daughter to a nearby playground. Obviously, this is not the hotels fault and we felt our vehicle and selves were secure on the hotel property.

Location was central to everything. Room was spacious and clean.
Sloped parking shared with National auto rentals. The drug addicts roaming the area. They never cleaned our room, we stayed for 4 nights and they only replaced the toilet paper and took all towels - didn’t replace washcloths or bath mat or kitchen towel. Did not vacuum or even make the bed or change the sheets.

We were pleasantly surprised by the Arbutus Inn and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was nice and helped us with all our questions. The room was super clean, and the bed and pillows were really comfortable. The area was quiet even though the surrounding neighborhood was sort of sketchy. Also, we walked to a good breakfast restaurant across the street and Tim Hortons was a block away. The city bus stopped close by and went right downtown.
The lobby needed a remodel or at least a deep cleaning. It was a bit shabby.
