The location of this hotel is excellent with close access to the beach and free beach towels. Staff were very pleasant. Room was clean, with the exception of the showerhead, and a good size. If the price fits your budget then it does the job for a few days.
We had a room in a separate building, with the window overlooking the carpark. This was pretty noisy over the weekend with people coming and going in the middle of the night blasting music from their cars. On the Friday night, there was noise all night of people coming back and forth along the corridor and the door at the end of the corridor banging loudly. It made me feel a little unsafe. We picked the room as my daughter has coeliac disease and I thought we might use the little kitchen but there wasn't a lot in the kitchen, such as cloths and cleaning products, sweeping brush, tea towel etc so it wasn't as useful as I had hoped.

Great staff, super super convenient location, and just great for the price.
The room is a little small but it was still very worth it considering how reasonably priced it was for such a clean and safe room in South Beach.

the location was great
the property is not what advertised online. when I called and asked about pull out couches prior to check in , the front desk advised they do not have couches and they did. when we got there we initially had to have the rooms switched because it was terrible.

nothing
false advertisement of room, it was not as shown in the pictures on booking. the bathroom sink was almost falling of the wall, the ac was loud and didn’t cool the room down at all. the walls were paper thin. it was so bad we left and booked another place uptown.

location to the beach
felt like a concrete dungeon, rooms were tiny, it was extremely loud all night, AC in the room didn't work. floors filthy in the room with crevices in the tile that were black, bathroom was filthy

Staff were nice and helpful, they helped us gain transportation to the cruise terminal on the day of the marathon (which we had no clue about beforehand). End of January they always have a marathon.
The rooms were not exactly cozy with the modern vibe. There were what we thought to be drug dealers hanging out by the street. They moved on after awhile though. We had to go through a restaurant to enter our room which was a bit awkward.

No denying the hotel is fantastically situated. We had a room above the sister restaurant, which really made no difference to us. If anything, it encouraged us to have breakfast there one morning- it was amazing (and packed most days). Miami is expensive - no hiding from that. I thought this hotel was one of the more reasonable before I booked and I stand by that having visited. I saw lots if criticism around beds being soft and the rooms being loud. The hotel is on the main strip, so yes you're likely to hear revving cars etc, but you're far enough away from those noisy bars to not hear their music. The room was larger than expected. We did find a cockroach on the floor when we first entered and my wife woke up with a bug in her hair - which is why I have to downgrade my review. For me, cleanliness is way more important than room size, location etc, so a little disappointed. That said, the customer team at reception were great and we didn't report the bugs - which we should have done. Not a 5 star hotel, but you're not paying for one either - so be realistic with your expectations! Location was fantastic. Would probably stay there again, but not sure I could convince the wife after bug-gate

amazing location on South Beach. friendly staff, clean.
Very basic room. Miami was experiencing a rare cold front and at night it was in the lower 50s/upper 40s and windy- so I tried to use heat as only thin sheets were provided on the bed. The coils immediately smelled burnt to a crisp and set the smoke alarm off. The smoke alarm then continued to chirp evey few seconds, loudly, all night until I stood on something and got it to stop.

The Ocean Five Hotel is a good quality tourist class hotel located in the quieter end of 'South of 5th' district of Ocean Drive, convenient for all amenities. As an older style 'art deco' hotel the rooms are large and comfortable with good a/c. Very clean and tidy. Joshua, Jorge and the other reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Good car parking facility aside the hotel. Nice quiet area, and an attached excellent cafe/restaurant for breakfast. David Baird - Scotland

Close to the beach. Close to the restaurant
We could borrow beach towels at the front desk
The hôtel has 3 buildings, a parking lot between 2 of them. Each building has an entrance on the street. We are a family of 5 and we had one bedroom at the 3 level of the far left building and an other one on the 2nd floor of the far right building: it was very disappointing to be so far from each other!!
The bedrooms were clean but we had to switch on the AC to eliminate smells. In the 2 bedrooms, the floor and furniture seemed pretty new but they were all already damaged, what a pity!
we paid 30 dollars for the parking but the cars are parked as tightly as possible along with the others, so it’s stressful to think if your car won’t be damaged during your stay.

The location was the only thing we liked about this hotel.
The property is old! The room didn’t look anything like the pictures on your website. Bargain Basement hotels look better than this place. The bed was so low to the ground and very uncomfortable. The bed had an old dingy spread. Overall, this hotel is old and outdated. It needs a complete renovation. Also, they do not have an elevator to get upstairs to our room. I would think this is a violation of ADA. There may have been one elsewhere but none for us at the time.

Loved the location close to everything we only had to walk a block or two to get anything we needed. The restaurant downstairs is amazing and the staff is phenomenal! I would definitely come back.!

The staff was prompt on a door key item, addressing the issue immediately. Staff helpful. Clean and neat. Liked the location for accessibility and walkability. Pleasant experience . Would consider staying again. Like the adjoining restaurant and sitting out watching the people strolling by.
Had to get used to the bed being lower to the ground. Just something different.

Should I say more?!

location ONLY
they didn’t state that room service was not available due to COVID on the website so you have to ask for it one day in advance, also room photos in Booking.com are not the same as on reality, when we asked for room service all they did is change towels and bed sheets that’s it they didn’t clean the toilet nor the floor nothing else was touched so basically the bare minimum, the restaurant they have downstairs isn’t that clean plus it’s expansive and food isn’t that yummy or great it’s better to eat somewhere else.
