We loved everything about the Santa Maria Suites - the location, room set up, swimming pool, free happy hour each day, daily cleaning with muffins, ice creams and waters delivered each day. The staff were all super helpful.
We faced both the pool and road and we could hear quite a lot of road noise but nothing which a good pair of ear plugs couldn’t solve. The roosters are also very noisy at 5am but the hotel can’t be blamed for that!

Apartment was so much bigger than I expected; facilities were fantastic. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Very clean in all areas. Wonderful homemade muffins and good selection of drinks for happy hour. Quiet off season visit made the resort even better. We had a really wonderful stay and would visit again.

Good room size, decor, comfy beds.
Plenty of sun loungers and nice pool to sit at for happy hour drinks which are complimentary.
Good location for beaches and 20 -25min walk to harbour side activities and attractions.
On arrival in the evening after a long drive, the room we booked was not available. No pool view, the room offered was looking out onto a facing wall. We had to fight again (this happened before when booking with Booking.com in Islamorada) to get the room we booked after being told it was not available. The reception staff member at the time was perfunctionary. After a while the manager was called and issue eventually resolved but not a good start for an expensive 4 night stay.
The guests in the room below smoked cigars and vaped heavily outside on their terrace. Unpleasant for us to sit out on our terrace ( except early morning) due to their smoking. Most hotels have no smoking or designated smoking areas.
We paid in advance via Booking.com so knew if would be fight again to get a refund or discount.
Noisy boiler/air con and fridge during the night.
We were not told about Happy Hour or discounts with activity providers on arrival so missed out on those for 2 days.
