We have stayed here several times when bringing our sons to UC MERCED. Staff is always great. Beds are super comfortable and everything is straightforward and simple.
The pullout couch cushions are torn up and frayed, and the cushions on them seemed dingy and old. The decorative small pillow on the bed seemed so dingy and old as well. There was no body wash in the shower. We stayed in room 218 but the constant dinging (chime) from the elevator was hard to ignore. The ATM machine was broken so it was difficult getting a tip for housekeeping. Has anyone explored a QR code that can be used for tipping? The water dispenser in the lobby used to always be nice and cold but this new one is warm and the spout is confusing and leaves a dripping mess. The TV display has a white box on the corner with information on it that I could not figure out how to remove. It was very distracting while trying to watch TV. Lobby staff told us we had a nice room because we have a balcony, but it seemed as if the balcony door was screwed shut so that it could not be opened.

My kids loved the indoor swimming pool.
I didn’t like the fact that when I reserved the room and said breakfast included in the charged a little more and then when I ask at the front desk in the morning, they said no that we had to purchase our own breakfast at the bistro, which was fine, but it was just I just felt like it misleading since I had planned breakfast with my little ones. Another thing was that they advertised Starbucks coffee but when you go there for some reason, they were not serving it at that time.
