Beautiful, old, well-maintained inn in the heart of Dorset. Welcoming and helpful staff who gave us an orientation tour of the building. We could walk from there to the Dorset Playhouse, which was what got us there in the first place. Good but expensive restaurant on the premises. I left my phone and watch charger in the room and it was efficiently returned to me.
We do not often stay in $300+ per night hotels, but decided to splurge. We therefore expected everything to be perfect and it was not. If breakfast is included, then pay the wait staff appropriately so that tips are included as well. Especially when the list price for the breakfast is high so that a 20% tip is a significant amount. The signal to the TV in our room cut out every 5-10 minutes which doesn't make for relaxed watching.

Even though we do not have a dog, we like that it is pet friendly. We like that it is walking distance from the Festival Theater. We requested a different room for our next stay and they were very accommodating. Available snacks are a bonus. The chocolate candy on the bed is a plus. The afternoon cookies downstairs are impressive.
