The weight staff was generally helpful and very busy because of not enough people.
The water stopped abruptly mid shower because there wasn't enough pressure in the building and that was extremely inconvenient the management when I brought this to their attention actually left the building (went out the back door) instead of talking to me about the issue. Stephanie the manager would not get on the phone, I was given her answer through another person (could hear her in the background). Theirs so much more trying not to go on tangent.

Hotel staff is friendly.
Hotel staff severely overworked. The waitress had to check me in while running back and forth between her tables. There isn't a hotel clerk to check people in. Staff is extremely hard working. If you check in please have patience with them.

I like to the location and the fact that it was a historic hotel. The staff were incredibly accommodating about switching rooms when I had a poor night sleep due to their clanging radiators.
I wish they'd invest a little bit more in the hotel part and not just in the bar area. I've been coming to honesdale for over 30 years and I've seen this hotel at its worst and I know that it was under New Management in the past decade. The walls ceiling and plumbing all needs some serious TLC and I would have expected that to have begun taking place. Our first room had one of the old radiators and it was off but still managed to clang so loud that I didn't sleep a wink the first night. We did ask the staff and they were wonderful about switching this rooms. The second room was clearly updated with modern heating baseboards. That said the beds weren't as comfortable as our first room, very lumpy. In the bathroom had black mold all around the tub. Lastly, the reservation says that there are breakfast pastries downstairs this is a bit of a white lie. It was Pop-Tarts in their foil wrappers hostess honey buns and chocolate donuts. Honesdale does have several cute bakeries that they could easily have solicited real pastries from and that's what I would have expected.

We made a reservation for a “one bedroom king size bed apartment” and when we got there we checked in and were told that our “apartment” was not in the hotel but was outside, past the wine store and up the flight of steps. We went outside and realized we had to go up these crooked exterior stairs in the neighboring gas station. The apartment itself was cleaned but the furniture, carpets and fixtures are all very dated and stained. We called the front desk because our reservation was for a king size bed and while they were very nice, there were no king size beds available so my husband and I had to sleep in different beds in a two bedroom apartment. I actually slept in a bunk bed so we could sleep in the same room. The sheets and pillows were clean but the entire floor of the apartment is crooked, the bathroom door doesn’t close and the bathroom was very small with a rusted trash can. We really didn’t want to sit on any of the furniture or walk on the floors without shoes on because everything looks very worn, stained and old/used. I think this hotel could really use to invest some money in some updated furniture/fixtures. For the money we spent, the two bedroom apartment was huge but it was certainly not a comfortable stay.

The staff was super-accommodating and friendly. The restaurant food was tasty. Excellent martini! We enjoyed the quirky feel of this historic hotel.
The furnishings were pretty shabby, and three of the five lamps didn't work. The main problem was the noise level from the bar and the stairwell. Probably room 201 should be left vacant on weekends, because it really was a significant drawback.

Good location at the end of the main street. The staff was very nice, but seemed overloaded. They were on a run. The building did have some history, but the 2009 remodel missed the mark.
Definitely needs updating. I’ve never seen a bathroom (entry way) vanity with a kitchen faucet before. The carpets were gross. And taking a shower was an adventure of ice water and boiling water. You didn’t know what it would be from second to second.

I feel terrible giving a poor review, but travelers should be aware of this property before booking. It is indeed old, which could be quaint, but it unfortunately shows its years. We liked nothing, except the location that was good to be near family. The weekend price of $189.50 per night was outrageous for a room that had tired, very shabby furnishings, a 3'x5' bathroom with cracked tiles, dripping shower and a toilet that had to be sat on sideways so that the door could close. The lock on the bathroom was a hook and eye from the hardware store. Bags of dirty hotel laundry grew in the hall outside our room each morning as rooms were turned over, the carpets were so stained that all one could do was hysterically laugh at the horror of it all and keep your shoes on at all times. The breakfast offered was set on a small table in the bar area of the restaurant below--a Kuerig machine and a tray of about a dozen pre-wrapped danishes and granola bars. I would have been okay with all of this if the price reflected the quality of the experience. However, $189.50+ tax was crazy. The worst part was since we reserved on a .com website, no refunds were available--we stuck it out for the three nights, but NEVER again will we go there when we visit family in the area.
The history of the hotel should sound quite appealing, however the upkeep on such an old building has to be monumental and appears to have overwhelmed the owner. I sympathize with the owners, however given its current state, I would never return nor recommend it.

Great location in a cute small town with lots of restaurants and shops in walking distance. 20 min from lake wallenpaupak. Clean, very old, but still comfortable, nothing fancy, great for an overnight
