I loved the location. Room was very cute

The doors did not lock very securely. There smell of smoke outside permeated the rooms.

Convenient locale, room was nicely appointed except no towel hooks in bathroom. Good restaurant and local store on property.

Staff was a bit dilatory in cleaning room. Parking was sometimes an issue.

The location was an excellent jumping-off point for Big Sur adventures. You can't beat the surroundings. The room had been updated at some point, and the bathroom had been renovated. The bed was comfortable, and everything was relatively clean. We were overall pleased by the appearance of the room.

We were extremely disappointed that our room did not have a patio as advertised. The patio and our plans to relax there after a day of hiking were the sole reason we booked at Fernwood. It felt like a classic bait and switch since all the rooms were booked. The walls were also extremely thin (like, I could hear every word spoken by our neighbors!), and with kids in the rooms on either side of ours, we got very little sleep that night. Given that we did not receive the room we booked and the lack of sleep, the $300 cost for a motel room felt a little outrageous.
