The name of this hotel describes it accurately, it’s a fascinating small hotel with an interesting past. We had a very comfortable room with a view of the main street. There was a some noise of street cleaning in the morning but it didn’t bother us. This was one of the few hotels on our trip where we had breakfast and it was very good. We especially liked the outside area where there was a vegetable garden.

The breakfast was excellent. The decor was great. The staff we interacted with were friendly and took extra time to try to meet our needs. The bed was very comfortable.
I thought the shared bathroom was going to be between our two rooms; rather than shared with everyone when we registered on website. Otherwise there wasn't anything we didn't like. And we were able to upgrade to one of the bedrooms with a powder room which met our most pressing needs.

The location is perfect. At the edge of town, close enough to walk easily to everything you need - shops, restaurants, etc., but not completely in the noisy midst of tourist activity. The room was small and quaint (as expected), but cozy and comfortable. We appreciated the fresh, new towels and wonderful water pressure in the shower. The hotel management friendly and very accommodating, offering to pick us up and drop us off at our travel destinations in town (airport and ferry). Breakfast was lovely.

The gardens were amazing! Food was good in the restaurant.
Honestly it felt “dusty” in the air. I did not like all the steps and ramps in the hallways. It’s a very old building, so I get it, but too high priced. Bedrooms the size of postage stamp, and I’m so thankful I requested private bathroom! Thin walls, creaky floors.
