Large comfortable room. Spacious hotel with good lounge areas. Dinner was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast had a choice of full English or continental, the latter was extremely good

We realy loved everyone there! Such a lovley bunch of people. Hard working and doing everything what needed to be done and more!

Such a beautiful place! Very nice staff (at check-in, during dinner, and for drinks afterwards) - everybody was very accommodating. Since the pub was very quiet, we got to talk to the two bar tenders for quite a while which was really nice. The waiter during dinner was really nice and funny as well. Dinner was superb - excellent quality and presentation! While the castle is located outside of town, the neighborhood is beautiful - we went for a walk after dinner - and actually easily accessible by train (which should be more clearly pointed out on the website, I suggest).

The Continental breakfast was rather underwhelming.

Stunning property, quirky, very friendly and helpful staff, excellent location, good food,clean and comfortable, would definitely return.

Some of the decor and furniture in the rooms was tired and dated not the standard I’d expect for the price and the bathroom could benefit from some updating, coffee and tea weren’t well stocked and weren’t readily available on request. The femal receptionist was very pleasant and welcoming but some of the bar staff were not, simple requests seemed troublesome and they weren’t very accommodating

The staff was fantastic! They even gave us an upgrade to an AMAZING room! It was absolutely wonderful.

It did get pretty hot in our room and we couldn’t figure out how to cool it down. Other than that it was a perfect stay.

The food was excellent - I think the breakfast was the best we had ever tasted! The junior suite was spacious, comfortable, quiet and very homely. The staff were attentive, friendly, helpful and genuinely interested in ensuring we had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is in a nice location and architecturally very striking.

There was a bit of a mix up at reception when we arrived to check in but the manager (Claire) sorted everything out very professionally. We ordered tea and scones once we were checked in and while the scones were tasty, they were also tiny.

The bed was very very uncomfortable. Also requested fresh milk in the morning which never arrived.

The room was nice and the buffet went well.

I hosted a funeral buffet at the hotel for my mum who recently passed away. The buffet itself was very nice. However, I originally paid a 50% deposit over the phone and when checking out I asked if any further payments were necessary and the staff said no, so I expected to receive an email invoice for the other 50% of the buffet costs. So I was surprised to get an email from my dad, who left the buffet hours before me, to say that he had been asked by the staff to pay for the other half of the buffet! When I phoned staff to check what happened they were very defensive and unapologetic. They said they had had a staff changeover and so they did not recognise me and so asked one of the guests for the contact details of my dad. Needless to say it is not acceptable, in my view, to charge one of the guests for the buffet they have attended, especially not for a funeral buffet. It is also simply unacceptable to reach out to the buffet guests full stop. They had my contact details, including the deposit paid, so had no reason to send an invoice to a guest. Especially not the husband of the recently deceased!
