Exceptional

A wonderful place to stay right in the middle of downtown Horta that I can’t recommend enough. Our room had a beautiful view of Mt. Pico and we probably had the best sleep of the trip here. Elena is amazingly helpful and was accommodating to our late arrival due to flight issues and gave us a long list of recommendations in the city. She also scheduled our taxis to and from the airport which made logistics considerably easier. If we ever make it back this is where we will stay.

My favorite guesthouse in the Azores so far!

The best place I stayed on my trip to Azores! The building is beautifully restored and maintained, hosts are so helpful, shared kitchen was clean, stocked, and organized, and location great for exploring the city. They are also conscious of the environment and offer easy composting of the food scraps and excellent coffee without wasting plastic. You will love staying here.

it was perfect

Elena and Jerry where super nice and helpful. They gave us a lot of pointers about the city and the island, what made our stay waaaay better. than the made reservation for us in wonderful restaurant (it was our anniversary), booked a taxi. The place has a wonderful artsy vibe, is full of Jerrys work as well as other local artists. he can tell you all about it. the common kitchen is perfectly equipped, with great coffee, some biscuits etc. the rooms are super clean, comfy, and also beautiful. it is just perfec, it feels homy, not like holiday accommodation.

really nice old house run by a lovely Italian couple. our room had direct view of Mount Pico, we could even see the sunrise. there is a very good kitchen, with coffee, tea and cookies for everyone. they also sell their art :)

Most friendly and sweet hosts EVER!!!!

The hosts are without a doubt the kindest and sweetest people ever. They gave us explanations about the whole island, what to visit, which route to take, where best to eat. They are very focused on local merchants and really want to give you the best experience of the island. The kitchen and bathroom are superclean and beautifully cared for and equipped. You can use the fridge and kitchen but they will tell you all about great bakeries in the neighborhood. There is host's own art hanging in the guest house and you can buy it too. The decor is unique and very domestic. Highly recommended for a stay on Faial!!!

The hospitality of Elena and Jerry, the beautiful house and cosy room with stunning views from the windows, thoughtfulness in every detail, great location, close to the marina, the beach and the restaurants all together made my stay in horta pleasent and relaxing. Would warmly recommend.

Fantastic place

The welcoming and helpful way of the owners made our stay in Horta great. Fantastic people! We adored their vision and concept of hospitality. As well as the sight of Pico from our room, of course! Very comfortable room, nice kitchen. The location is excellent. Really sorry to leave! We had a fantastic stay and highly recommend BuonVento to fellow travellers.

Great value in great location

Excellent host (Elena) and location. One block from marina, taxi stand, and Peters Cafe. Blew out my knee that morning and found frozen peas in shared kitchen just for guests like me! Comfortable room with good floor fan to balance lack of A/C.

Didn't expect A/C, but also didn't expect such hot weather end of September! It was not a big issue and still slept comfortably.

Great place to stay. It's a renovated house from the late 1700s owned by a friendly couple who put a lot of time and care in the little details, making it feel special.

Hmmm...floors were a little creaky. Although that's expected in an older home, early risers like me had to be super quiet.

good location & bathroom was clean.

the host screamed at me over a misunderstanding, physically aggressed me (angrily came up in my face and put her hands on me), and kicked me out in the rain at midnight with nowhere to go. there was zero attempt made for conflict resolution. horrible experience.

Just perfect.

Marvellous hosts in such a cute and well-decorated place. Very well located in Faial, you can easily walk to the city center, to the port where the tours depart and to Porto Pim beach, one of the best in the Azores.

This was really a 10/10 so nothing bad to point out.

That was an amazing room... no - a flat! Really big and with spectacular view at the ocean and Pico volcano. Every detail in a room was so stylish and nice. There was also a common kitchen with all needed equipment and also some cookies, jams, butter and coffee what was so nice after a long trip. We loved location as well - right in the center of Horta. Ant hosts are amazing people, so helpful and nice, they provided us all necessary information about the city and ordered taxi. Certainly will stay here if will come again!

Nicely decorated guesthouse, right in the centre of Horta. Our room was facing the harbour and was clean and quite, beds comfortable. There is a shared kitchen too, where coffee and some cookies are available in the morning. You can also prepare your meal there. There are very good bakeries to have breakfast at close to the guesthouse. Hosts Elena and Jerry provided us with the best ideas what to visit and see and where to eat and have drinks. There are public parking lots nearby, even in the narrow and steep street where the guesthouse is located.

Best place to stay in Horta!

Casa BuonVento has been a home away from home! Everything from the moment we stepped in the reception has been perfect: from Jerry and Elena giving us all the best tips of the island to the comfy rooms, the amazing and super clean bathroom and the lovely breakfast available for us. They also provided some gluten free snacks for me which I am going to remember for a while, a lovely and nice touch that makes you feel looked after. We only stayed one night but honestly, I wish we could have stayed for longer, this place is a truly gem and it deserves all the best! Hope to see you soon in the magic Horta that stole our hearts, thanks again for having us!

Beautiful view with an artistic twist.

Beautiful and comfortable bedroom with a wonderful view to Pico island. The house and room were beautifully decorated with artwork carved by Jerry. It made the place feel very special and unique. Communication was easy and our hosts were very friendly, providing us with good tips on restaurants. Will definitely reach out to them when I visit Horta again!
