Don’t think we’ll be back.

View of the river from the rooms was good and staff always extremely willing to help and provide service.

Bed was rather uncomfortable requiring us to ask for some extra padding to lay on the mattress. Pillows also not comfortable for us. The hotel, unlike other Cinnamon hotels, do not offer different types of pillows. Room was only accessible via stairs so not accessible. Room was not up to the expected standard of a 4 star hotel. The air conditioner thermostat was unreadable so difficult to set to appropriate setting, bathroom too dark (dark tiles throughout) with inadequate lighting, and everything made a noise! The air conditioning was noisy, the ceiling fan was noisy and if we decided to turn these off, the bar fridge was noisy! The food at the Citadel was very much hit-and-miss. Ordered a Nasi Goreng from the pool bar which came with a couple of chicken satay skewers. The rice was not great, but ok - but the chicken skewers were so over cooked you couldn’t even bite them they were so hard. Breakfast is better but nothing to rave about. Overall, I wouldn’t rate the room we were provided and the facilities as 4-star - more like an average 2.5-3 star motel.

Great customer service

We had a great time in Citadel kandy. The view by the river and the front view with the pool are stunning. We had booked half board though, wanted to adjust it to B&B due to an unexpected friends dinner invitation. First the hotel staff said it is not possible, but at last when i explained this at the checkout, a kind manager helped us to modify the reservation. I really appreciate this sort of flexibility and support from a hotel staff. I also love the variety of breakfast buffet.. food is nice too.

Exceptional

Pool was really clean and loved it. Once we accidently locked out of the room and the staff there was kindly helped us without getting annoyed.

Its better to arrange cutlery in a separate table. Because most of the times they forgot to put the cutlery on the table therefore we always had to look up for a staff in order to ask for cutlery and that was inconvenient.

Lovely stay with good food and great service!

Nice view of the Mahaweli river. Very clean room and bathroom and they kept the room very clean through out our stay. Nice breakfast and very good local dishes. Very helpful and attentive staff. Loved the stay here and can recommend for a nice stay in Kandy.

They were playing music in the lobby bit loud till late night which could be heard in the rooms as well.

Perfect Weekend in Kandy

Beautiful location by the river. Staff was very helpful and friendly and they even helped me surprise my boyfriend for his birthday. The dinner buffet was a lot of variety. I will definitely stay again when I'm in Kandy.

Superb

We stayed for two nights and it was an excellent experience. We had a river facing room and the facilities are just as described. The breakfast spread was very impressive with lots of options. The hotel location is very impressive and it’s a great view from the lobby and pool bar. The staff were very helpful and always smiling.

A perfect calming place to stay.

The hotel had beautiful gardens and our bedroom was huge. Although a little way out of town (10 mins) it was perfect for us as it was quiet and relaxing. Great pool area withots of sunbeds. Food very good.

Hotel rooms a little dark and lots of steps to the rooms but otherwise perfect.

A lovely serene retreat from the chaos of Kandy...

The rooms were cool and comfy and quiet, the pool area is absolutely sensational and the staff just made it absolutely wonderful: all keen to here about your story and always on hand to provide you what you want. I'm not one for eating at the hotel but the (Eastern) food here is actually really superb - one of the best breakfasts we've had in Sri Lanka (and the exec chef even on hand to explain things to you!!). Slightly above average pricing for Sri Lanka but if you want a serene getaway from the bustle of Kandy this is certainly the place.

The management's inability (or unwillingness) to tell some rather loud and antisocial yobs to turn their music off and refrain from shouting and shreaking by the pool whilst people were trying to relax...
