Location fine for my needs. Single room clean and (?) recently decorated. Tea/coffee making facilities. Lift to second floor. Television in room if required.
The packet of biscuits provided with tea/coffee was out-of-date.
The continental breakfast was disappointing. Room was open but in darkness. Water in hot water boiler was cold. Pot of yoghurt in small fridge with jugs of orange juice and.milk. Reasonable display of cereals, but had to hunt around for large spoon. Three croissants in an open container were rock hard. Closed.container with a couple of pains au chocolate, three slices of white bread and two of brown. Hoped to toast bread, but no indication of how to switch on machine, so gave up! Ten pounds would be a reasonable price for a continental breakfast IF all facilities in the Breakfast Room were up and running and well stocked.

Great location and friendly staff, clean and comfy beds
Upon arrival, my first impressions were that I wasn't very impressed and nearly took my daughter's credit card and confiscated it before she parted with the £800 for 5 days (maybe a few nights on the beach would be more suitable!)
At just under £80.00 a night each, we understood that this was one of the cheapest places to stay during Boardmasters week, compared to others in the area which were over £1000+!
However, the only plus point in the rooms themselves were the beds were clean and I could only settle after giving everything a once over with an antibacterial wipe.
The rooms are very dated, bathrooms extremely small (so much so that one shower door didn't open fully as it hit the toilet!) and during a time when we're experiencing major heatwaves, fans were £20 deposit per room and available from the desk.
The sad thing is, is that most of the reviews that we've read have also praised how lovely the staff are - which is true! However, staff only have limited means to maintain a hotel, and the housekeeping can only work with what they have.
I would suggest that a little investment in the rooms would go a long way - for example, in my daughter's room, the curtains were badly stained and the netting was torn. A little care at some of these things would surely make it an easier job for your staff to maintain a cleaner hotel?
Despite the excellent location and cheaper price during the busiest period of the year for Newquay, we will unfortunately not be returning due to the poor state of the rooms. But you want a place just to sleep at night and not spend any time there, it's passable.
