Room was spacious and clean, staff helpful and food was good
Bar area is part of the restaurant and not really a bar area more for weddings/events
parking was easy

Very handy location for local funerals at the Crem! Beautiful gardens & outlook, especially from the rear rooms. Spotlessly clean. Luxe bedding & a powerful shower. Well-appointed rooms inc ironing board, hairdryer, tea & coffee making kit, suitcase rack, extra bedding, soft towels, wooden coat hangers, etc. Amazing breakfasts.
Would benefit from new carpets throughout, which would undoubtedly cost a fortune. A quicker hit would be to refresh basic staff training. Some of the juniors would benefit from being sent to stay at a luxe hotel to experience tip-top service themselves so they appreciate what a difference even little things make. Eye contact, smiling, proactive greetings, etc. Guests are attuned to confident, well trained & knowledgeable staff... and we always make allowances for newbies, but sullen or uninvested staff can really let down an establishment. The bar waitress, for example, brought out drinks & plonked them on the table all at one end. She knew who had ordered each drink but made no attempt to serve us accordingly. No side plates were offered with the sharing starter, nor with the cheeseboard. These requested items arrived in a stack along with missing butter knives and were just plopped in a pile at one end... there were only four diners to hand them out to. The food was (largely) delicious, but no one enquired. Microwaved rice needs to fluffed up with a fork to at least look like it's just been cooked... it may only be a minor point but it enhances & elevates the dining experience. Instead the rice was pressed so hard into its bowl it had to be prised out. It tasted fine but the presentation felt sad, & indicative of a tired kitchen. If the staff were served rice like this in a local curry restaurant they would think it odd. We requested tap water but were served bottled water, that also felt odd for a quality hotel. Sadly, The Coach House feels like it's slipping into antiquated quicksand... it needs a quick mini overhaul, not least nice large wine glasses instead of those small breakfast fruit juice glasses. Ice in drinks. Ice buckets, etc, etc. Finally, if the receptionist finds herself on a very long/intricate phonecall when guests are checking in/out, simply look up, smile, nod & facially acknowledge the queue.

The hotel was very clean facilities very good food in restaurant first class.
That there wasn’t a safe. The bathroom could have done with aids to get in the shower.

The hotel looked lovely from the outside, and there was a nice breakfast in the morning. The bed was comfortable.
When we arrived to check in around 8.30pm, we was going to eat in the restaurant, but 4 people were at reception complaining about the restaurant food not being served and wrong orders coming out, and the customers were really annoyed so we decided not to have any dinner in the restaurant. The bathroom looked tired with cracked floor tiles and the toilet roll holder hanging off the wall, there wasnt any plug sockets near the bed, so to charge up phones and equipment we had to put at the other end of the room which is inconvenient.
