The best thing about Hotel Egilson was the friendliness of the staff. We were welcomed by Marta who spotted that my wife had a streaming cold and made her a wonderful ginger tea and honey pick-me-up. She booked us a table at a wonderful local restaurant - and when I went sailing off in the wrong direction (even though it was just across the street - I was tired from a lot of driving!) Marta just laughed and said she loved me. Breakfast was great... just a lovely place to stay.
The room was small but it was cosy and warm. No complaints.

Marta was absolutely wonderful checking us in, recommending restaurants, and making us feel welcome while we were hanging out in the lobby/lounge. The breakfast served in the hotel was the best we had in Iceland. The portions were huge and set up on the table before we arrived for breakfast.
It’s not that I didn’t like it, but the room was very small. But to me it was part of the charm.

Good location, very kind and helpful staff, very tasty breakfast with great variety!
Cleanliness, size of the room (barely space to open two large luggages), flooding in the shower.
