The room was perfect: quiet, clean, well-resourced, nice bed, good television screen, working remote, good shower. The hotel is right beside the railway station so is easy to reach even late on a rather 'dead' Sunday evening. The temperature inside the hotel is just right and apart from the few issues I had (see below) is one I would recommend.
The hotel entrance is rather concealed and the reception would do well to send an email to travellers before they head there. Once I found it, I had to speak into an intercom and then doors open. There is a sign ahead beside a door pointing to reception etc. I went through it only to find two sets of stairs leading up to the actual reception. In other words it is on the second floor. I asked when I got up if there was no lift and the receptionists seemed to find that funny, saying I had walked past the lifts in the foyer. I asked if they were signposted to a second floor reception and the answer was no. This is a fundamental design and communication flaw which this hotel should redress. If a door points to a reception then one assumes it will be there! Not a good entrance to a hotel. The surroundings are also rather unwelcoming. I asked about restaurants as there was no food on offer in the hotel and was sent along a street filled with roadworks with little open rather than a kebab shop. The fish and chip shop recommended was a good ten minutes walk away in a rather grotty area of town. The breakfast offer was also a bit of a letdown. No good coffee, no healthy bread. So a mixed experience overall.

High floor as requested. Bedlinen was excellent quality and bed very comfortable.
Got shower mat immediately I requested one from reception.
Everything was very clean. Plenty of lovely quality towels, including 2 hand towels, much appreciated.
Reception although not on entry was pleasant and staff were very welcoming.
Good lifts and very clean. Excellent being adjacent to railway station and handy for many attractions.
Shower room quite small, water pressure is high and so always seems to splash out of basin.
TV was adequate, no more. Room had double bed so obviously could be booked by 2 persons but contained only one more comfortable chair.
Air con was quite noisy.

Great location for train and local bus to St Andrews.
This has to be the worst Sheraton I have stayed in. So expensive for what provided with.
The breakfast choice was abysmal with no choice of items like eggs, no tatty scones, etc.
Hasn't moved on from previous ownership where costs per night considerably less than now.
The communal area carpets are so dirty and stained.
The glass doors to the bathroom made a considerable cracking noise which was worrying.
